Overview

There isn't a faster way to transport people and goods than in this high-performance SUV. The Urus drives like a true Lamborghini because of its potent V8, sport-tuned suspension, and sophisticated all-wheel-drive system, which does wonders for controlling traction. The Urus has all the Lamborghini styling cues because both its interior and exterior are heavily borrowed from its cousins, particularly the Lamborghini Huracan. For 2023, the SUV will receive some design upgrades for both interiors as well as exterior and there would also be a slight bump up in the power despite it carrying the same 4.0L twin-turbo V8. Lamborghini has also teased the new Urus beating the Pikes Peak record for SUVs with an impressive time of just 10:32:064 minutes. This could also be the last run for the Urus to run solely on an internal combustion engine as Lamborghini is in the works on a PHEV variant of the SUV with the aim of converting their entire line-up into hybrid powertrains from 2024.

Buying Advice

The Urus only comes in a single trim with additional features and packages that the customer would be able to add. The car can be completely personalized but from a value standpoint, the base Urus without any additional bits is great as it offers all the necessary style and power needed to experience the full potential of this SUV.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

There are very limited alternatives in the segment but the vehicles that fall in the similar style of midsize SUV are the Bentley Bentayga, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and the Aston Martin DBX. The price of this SUV is expected to start at $222,000 and go all the way to the $300,000 mark depending on the options and special paint schemes chosen.

Features
8.5/10

Although there is only one trim level for the Lamborghini Urus, the SUV can be personalized with a huge selection of colors, wheels, interiors, and options. A twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive are standard on all Urus versions. Lamborghini will continue to offer additional style packages like the Pearl Capsule and Graphite Capsule that brings in exclusive two-tone paint schemes and additional exterior trims. The standard features are expected to stay the same with minor upgrades to the interior features and the Urus could upgrade to a larger infotainment screen like that found in the updated Huracan.

Release Date

The 2023 Lamborghini Urus will be unveiled in the month of August 2022 at Pebble Beach, California and the vehicle is expected to go on sale in early 2023.

Fuel Economy
6.0/10

The Urus is Lamborghini's heaviest vehicle, but it really likes to drink. Those affluent enough to purchase one probably don't worry about fuel efficiency. The Urus will reportedly get 12 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. The mileage of this vehicle will undoubtedly vary depending on driving style. A 22.5-gallon fuel tank isn’t the largest but it is the average size that most of the vehicles in this class carry.

Without any surprise, the Urus puts out the least gas mileage with a total range of just 314 miles in combined drive conditions. The Aston Martin closely follows while the more composed and comfort-oriented Bentley offers the best gas mileage.

Interior
8.0/10

The cabin offers a striking interior that is distinctly Lambo. There are numerous nods to jet-fighter design, including a red flip-cover disguising the start button and a shifter that resembles a jet's throttle. Levers that manage the drive modes and enable programmable performance settings are located to the left of the shifter. While the infotainment system and reconfigurable gauges are directly lifted from an Audi, there is a ton of faux-suede and carbon-fiber decor throughout. Depending on the seating arrangement chosen, there is adequate passenger room in the back seat for two to three passengers. Most occupant sizes should be accommodated by the wheel and seat adjustment ranges, and those who fall on the larger half of the spectrum won't lack internal space. Exterior visibility is generally not an issue thanks to the large mirrors and spacious windows.

While some measurements aren’t available, all these SUVs cater to the premium class and hence offer amble space for their occupants. The Bentley is the only vehicle here to offer an optional third row but that eats up almost all its cargo space. The largest cargo area is offered by the Porsche Cayenne Turbo but the Urus sure can accommodate a couple of pieces of baggage for a quick run across the city.

Some standout interior features on the 2023 Lamborghini Urus include

  • Alcantara Upholstery
  • Carbon-fiber and brushed aluminum interior trims
  • Interior air ionizer and fragrance system
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Ventilated and massaging front seats
  • Seat heating function

How intuitive is the 2023 Lamborghini Urus infotainment system?

The Urus might borrow the 8.4-inch center console display from the Huracan. When your phone is connected to Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, the voice controls understand natural language and assist your phone. There are four total USB ports, wireless charging, and four 12-volt outlets in the connectivity department. The optional 21-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio is an excellent investment due to its clarity and presence. The proximity sensors for the driver's aids initially proved to be too touch-sensitive, but users get the option to change their sensitivity.

Some of the standout infotainment features on the 2023 Lamborghini Urus are

  • Lamborghini infotainment system III
  • 21-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system
  • Digital instrument cluster
  • Wireless charger
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Exterior

Exterior is where most of the changes are done to the Urus and we'll get to see a slightly revised front fascia, which has more vents on the borders. These are referred to as air curtains, and they assist in directing airflow around the vehicle's flanks. Additionally, there is a new hood with its own vents, and there are more vents on the rear of the vehicle, right behind the wheel arches. The dimensions are likely to remain the same but the design team has incorporated more aggressive elements and additional Y-shaped accents that Lamborghini seems to be following for all their models. The customization options will remain endless and users will be able to make their Urus unique as there are numerous paint options and wheel options available. Lamborghini also lets the buyers pick a brake caliper shade in order to give it some contrast from the rest of the vehicle.

The ground clearance on the Urus is considerably lower than its rivals but this allows the Lambo to be more agile especially around the corners with barely any body roll. If driving off-road is something you do very often and you require higher ground clearance, the Bentayga will keep you happy as it comes with 8.5-inches of space between the ground and the floor of the car.

Some of the standout exterior features include

  • LED headlamps with DRLS
  • 21-inch alloy wheels
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Hands-free liftgate
  • Optional studded snow tires

Safety

A variety of driver-assistance technologies, including a night-vision camera, are also available as standard or optional features on the Lambo SUV. The Urus does not carry any rating from NHTSA or IIHS but the vehicle is based on the same platform as the Audi Q8, which managed to score 5 starts and a “Good” rating, making it a safe vehicle to be in.

Some of the standout safety features available with the 2023 Lamborghini Urus are

  • Active lane assist
  • Traffic sign recognition
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Blind-spot monitor
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Emergency braking assist

Competition

2023 Lamborghini Urus vs 2023 Bentley Bentayga

The 2023 Bentley Bentayga offers a more practical cargo space combined with a lower performance curve and top speed. The Bentley Bentayga falls short of outperforming the Urus, aside from price and range. Also, the Bentley offers an optional third-row to allow additional passengers. There are however many options for attractive customization on the Lambo. Therefore, taking into account all factors, the additional investment looks worthwhile. Also, the Bentley offers an optional third-row to allow additional passengers.

2023 Lamborghini Urus vs 2023 Porsche Cayenne Turbo

The acceleration dynamics of the Porsche and the Lamborghini are practically identical. The Urus, on the other hand, has a worse range coverage but a faster top speed. However, the Lambo significantly outperforms the Porsche when it comes to its outward appearance. The major advantage that the German automaker has is the fact that its pricing is much lower in comparison, making it more accessible for people.

2023 Lamborghini Urus vs 2023 Aston Martin DBX

The interior space management of the 2023 Lamborghini Urus and 2023 Aston Martin DBX is comparable. On one hand, Urus has a higher performance index, while DBX has higher range practicality. Both options can be favored when it comes to comfort and ease. If you’re looking to have the more eye-catching vehicle here, the Urus is definitely the winner.

Final Verdict

The Lamborghini Urus set a whole new trend of performance SUVs and being from the house of raging bulls, there are no compromises in terms of its performance. The Urus is the most practical Lamborghini one can buy and despite being on the expensive side, previous models have proven that these vehicles hold their value pretty well. With the new updated version of the SUV, it looks meaner than ever and the slightly lighter body will make a noticeable difference over the previous model. This is the perfect vehicle for those looking to have a supercar thrill without giving up on family vehicle practicality and despite having other entrants in the segment, nobody carries the character and styling that Lamborghini has been able to deliver.
