It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission which powers only the front wheels, while the AWD drivetrain is available only for the GT-Line trim as an option. The 1.6T powertrain does the 0-60 MPH sprint in 7 seconds and crosses the quarter mile marker in 15.5 seconds. In terms of efficiency, the EPA ratings of 27 MPG in the city and 37 MPG on the highways are one of the best in the segment.

The 2024 K5 scored a perfect 5-star rating from the NHTSA this year and also received the "Top Safety Pick+" accolade from IIHS in their safety tests last year. 

J.D. Power has also rated the Kia K5 2024 with a class-leading 84/100 in their reliability tests. Expect the 5-year cost of ownership for the K5 to be around the $40,550 mark which is on the higher side of the spectrum.
