The Infiniti QX60 remains true to Nissan’s practice of making user-friendly and value-for-money vehicles with a strong presence of luxury. Even though the QX60 is a luxury crossover, it has seen a fair share of issues in the recent past and the 2015 model has seen a slight improvement over last year’s model in this area. The current model of the QX60 has 57 complaints along with 3 official recalls as of now. The 2015 QX60 has faced maximum reports regarding airbag issues followed by random sunroof exploding issues. The airbag failure has seen a major recall from the brand that also includes other vehicles from Nissan as well. In its class, the QX60 competes alongside the Buick Enclave, the Acura MDX, and the Audi Q7.
Infiniti QX60 user complaints and problems
Engine problems
- Engine stall and sputtering: Several owners complain about sudden engine stalls and sputtering while driving. The engines stalled while driving at moderate speeds and the sputtering occurred mostly at slow speeds. The engine stalls put the occupants of the affected vehicles at risk.
- Transmission slipping: There are a handful of complaints regarding this issue. The owners mention in their complaints that while driving, the CVT transmissions in their vehicles started to slip.
- Severe jerking issue: Along with the transmission slipping issues, some owners also faced severe jerking from their vehicles’ powertrains as well. The jerkings were caused by the faulty transmissions of their vehicles. In a few cases, the jerking issue started after the vehicle was driven for a few miles right after purchasing.
Safety problems
- Airbag sensor failure: Several owners complain about a faulty front airbag sensor. The front co-passenger airbag sensor fails to detect an occupant on the front seat even after the seat is occupied. The brand did issue a major recall regarding this problem but a few owners mentioned that the problem recurred.

Should you buy a used Infiniti QX60?
The Infiniti QX60 is a proper three-row luxury SUV that doesn’t skimp on cabin space and interior design despite being offered by Nissan. The reliability department of the SUV has been decent at the most, with the vehicle facing some problems in the current model year that you’d not expect from a luxury vehicle. However, going with a used example makes sense, and do perform a thorough checkup of the vehicle to rule the transmission issues and the airbag issues.
