Overview

Honda returns again with a minor upgrade to one of the most popular hatches, the Honda Fit. It's fun and exciting to drive around the city. The new Fit offers so much in its small stature that the competitors have to up their game to keep pace with this Honda.

Available at a starting price of $16,190, the 2020 Honda Fit is offered in four trim levels, just like last year's model. There are minor changes and alterations to last year's model, barring which, the car appears unchanged. Powering this compact hatch is a 1.5L inline 4 cylinder engine that returns a good fuel economy.

Buying Advice

The EX trim is the best VFM trim in our opinion. It offers an array of value-added features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Honda's LaneWatch technology, a sunroof, and proximity entry with push-button start.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The 2020 Honda Fit is one of the best cars in its segment. It's nimble and has excellent handling. The interiors are not the most premium in the segment, but the space on offer negates all of its drawbacks. The Fit is powered by a 1.5 L inline-four engine that has a maximum output of 130 hp @ 6600 rpm and 114 lb/ft of torque @ 4600. There are also options for a 6 speed M/T, A/T or CVT. This car also has an excellent combined fuel efficiency of 36.15 mpg.

The Honda Fit continues to rivals other hatchbacks like Ford Fiesta hatch, Toyota Yaris, Nissan Versa Note, and Kia Rio hatch.

Features
5.0/10

Honda Fit comes in four trim levels, prices starting from $16,190 and go up to $20,520. Powering the hatch is a standard 1.5-Liter Inline-4 cylinder engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The EX-L trim has a CVT on offer while other trims offer it as an option. The trims are well packed with the latest features. Even the base model comes equipped with Honda Sensing and a multi-angle rearview camera.

The value for money pick from our side is the EX trim. It offers an array of value-added features such as 7-inch touchscreen infotainment, Honda's LaneWatch technology, sunroof, and proximity entry with push-button start. The only thing missing here is the navigation upgrade that is available with the EX-L trim. However, smartphone users can enjoy Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Fuel Economy
7.0/10

The Inline 4 cylinder does it job pretty well as the Fit hatch returns good fuel economy. It offers 33 MPG in city and 39 MPG on the highway. The engine paired with CVT offers up to 40 MPG on the highway. In the comparison chart, it can be clearly seen how the 2020 Honda Fit surpasses all the rivals.

“Clever packaging and ease of use are hallmarks of the Fit. Thanks to the configurable rear seat, this is a truly versatile cabin. Cargo capacity is impressive, and legroom is generous all around. The only shortcoming is rear headroom.”- Edmunds

Seating and Comfort

The materials used in the Honda Fit interior do not deliver premium look. The interior feels cheap like we see in almost every Honda hatchback. The padding on the armrest is also not soft which might give discomfort to the passengers. Anyways, the front seats offer enough space to the front passengers. The rear seats offer shorter headroom.

Cargo Capacity

The Fit has enough space to fit in all your shopping stuff. The name ‘Fit’ is quite significant here as it implements the availability of space in the car. The normal cargo space offered behind the second row is 16.6 cubic feet, which is decent. On putting the rear seats down, you get a whopping 52.7 cubic feet of cargo volume.

“Early Honda Fits looked slab-sided, not unlike a miniature minivan. The 2020 3rd-generation car, introduced for 2018, shed those looks in favor of a leaner design that’s more chiseled and modern, with a steeply canted windshield and a sporty rooftop spoiler.”- Kelley Blue Book

Dimension and Weight

Honda Fit is one of the compact hatchbacks that offer a good amount of space. Although it holds shorter wheelbase in comparison to most of its peers, but Honda has managed to make the space available without compromising on the design and dimension.

Honda Fit VS Ford Fiesta

When it comes to affordability, the Ford Fiesta turns out to be one of the cheapest cars in the segment. Fiesta also offers premium materials in the interiors along with user-friendly infotainment system. So, as far as the price is concerned, the Fiesta is a good car for sure.

On the other hand, the Fit offers better interior space at a cost of few thousand bucks more than Fiesta. It also offers better fuel economy than the Fiesta. So, the call is yours.

.Honda Fit VS Toyota Yaris

The Toyota Yaris is one of the most beautiful and smart hatchbacks you can consider buying. It is known for its tough and solid design. The driving dynamics offers by the Yaris can put many hatchbacks to shave including the Honda Fit. The company has offered safety features like pre-collision braking, lane departure alert, and automatic high beams standard on all trims.

Honda Fit VS Nissan Versa

We have seen how Honda Fit manages to offer best in class interior space. Both of these hatchbacks offer alike features and ethics. Versa is known for its low cost and good fuel economy. Versa’s 1.6 Liter powertrain is good enough to produce amazing power and produces annoying vibration as well. On the other hand, Honda Fit’s 1.5-Liter engine is quiet and reliable.

Honda Fit VS Kia Rio

The best thing about Honda fit is that it can attract all type of buyers. Due to its budget price, new and young buyers will for sure get attracted to its design ethics and excellent visibility. The Fit catches the attention of youngsters looking for a weekend ride. The car is capable of accommodating all the picnic snacks or even bicycles. This is what makes it different from Kia Rio. In Kia Rio, you find less cabin space and major safety tech remains absent.

Final Verdict
5.8/10

Yes, the Honda Fit offers an amazing bang for the buck and delivers on almost every front. The car comes with tons of interior space, safety features, and tech to keep you entertained.
