Overview

The 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid sedan fares well in the compact sedan segment. Adding $8,245 to the price of the standard gasoline variant, the Honda Civic hybrid carries a base price of MSRP of $24,200 and is offered in one trim. The engine on service here is a familiar 1.5L Inline-4 engine supported by a 144-volt electric system. Mated to a CVT, it makes 110 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. The combined fuel economy improves from 31 MPG on the standard gasoline variant to 44 MPG on the hybrid variant, making the increase in sticker price worth it. The performance of the Honda Civic hybrid remains at par with the gasoline variant, with the car accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 10.1 seconds. Honda offers the same 3 colors for the Honda Civic hybrid. The Honda Civic mainly competes against the Hyundai Elantra Hybrid. One can also upsize and go against the Kia Optima Hybrid and the Toyota Camry Hybrid from the midsize sedan segment.

Buying Advice

The 2012 Honda Civic hybrid is only offered in 1 trim which comes will all the features that are available for the sedan and also has a hybrid CVT with navigation and leather configuration ($2,700) that offers leather seats and navigation interface.

              Old dirty guzzler

Pros - ["Very reliable", "Still looks great"]

Cons - ["Gas guzzler", "Relies on too much power steering fluid"]

Honda Civic may guzzle gas, but its reliable nature makes it a road warrior. This Civic stays chugging, even when weighed down by poor MPG. Its hardy construction shrugs off miles of abuse. While not eco-friendly, it's a trusty stead you can count on to get you there, no matter how many tanks you'll refill. The red paint promises years of vibrancy too. Inside, it's basic but sturdy - built to las...
