Built on a rugged platform with modern technology, the 2021 Ford Bronco is desirable for more reasons than just carrying forward the iconic name. While its predecessor had a reputation for bulletproof reliability, the new one cannot simply use that to sell itself. It scores a predicted reliability rating of 82 out of 100 which is above average but is not similarly well-liked by organizations like Consumer Reports. Starting at an MSRP of $29,995, it can be described as value for money if your use case justifies having an off-roader. Competing against the Jeep Wrangler, the Subaru Outback, and the Toyota 4Runner, it is in for a lot of hot-headed competition. In this article, new Ford Bronco problems are explored to provide consumers with a more informed choice.

2021 Ford Bronco User Complaints and Problems

Mechanical problems:

  • One owner reported that the vehicle had a problem with the engine. While driving, it began to lose power and the engine light began to flash. The car was eventually stopped, at which point the engine died and was unable to restart. Other owners are reporting a similar kind of incident, putting a dent in Ford Bronco reliability. The issue seems to be due to a valve problem and has caused several breakdowns.
  • Another owner has reported a problem with the electronic brake boost system in the car. It shuts down leaving the car without a brake boost and the supplemental brake system for towing does not work. Hence, it takes a lot more distance to stop the motorhome than when the boost is working.
  • At only about 625 miles, a low engine oil pressure alert came on for one owner. The vehicle was towed to the dealership and the engine was scheduled to be replaced.

Electrical system problems:

  • One owner states that when shifting into Park, the front camera activates its sensors even when there is no object nearby. However, the failure was not rectified adequately by the dealership.
  • There is another problem with the wipers of the car which revert to intermittent after about 45 seconds of usage in either high or low settings. This issue also sees a large number of people complaining about it.

Exterior problems:

  • One owner reported that the soft top of the vehicle starts ripping and shredding apart, causing unbearable road noise to be filtered inside the cabin. More Ford Bronco roof issues are being reported for both the soft top but there are many Ford Bronco hardtop issues as well.

Safety problems:

  • One owner reported that the airbags were scheduled for a recall but the parts did not reach dealers. This resulted in many owners having a constant problem with the safety cushion of the car.

Should you buy the 2021 Ford Bronco?

The Ford Bronco has proven its capabilities time and again in terms of its ruggedness and capabilities. But we find many instances where owners have faced a continuous and repetitive set of problems. And we can observe that the two Bronco recalls haven’t covered the catastrophic engine failures which seem to be common. Until Ford can sort that out, we would not recommend you buy this car.
