Overview

The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew offers better performance and off-road equipment than the standard Ford F-150. The 2021 model is the third generation of the Ford F-150 Raptor. The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor is powered by a powerful twin-turbo V6 engine, which might be a key reason to choose it over the regular models.

Buying Advice

The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor comes with a good list of features as standard. There is no need to spend much on the optional packages as it might make the truck very expensive. The standard features are more than enough for your daily needs. If you want the added convenience, you can go for the Power Tech Package. It costs an additional $1,995 and offers a power tailgate and a Power to Box 2KW.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

With its turbocharged Ecoboost V6 and enhanced towing capacity, you'll be getting a redesigned Raptor SuperCrew. A new addition to the package is massive 37-inch all-season stock tires. It will rival the RAM 1500 TRX, Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, and the Nissan Titan PRO-4X. Continue with the article to know how the pickup performs in front of its rivals in the segment.

Features

The F-150 Raptor is a special high-performance model of the standard pickup truck. It is one of the most feature-filled trucks that not only offers off-road and towing capabilities but also various comfort and convenience features. On top of that, you have optional packages to enhance your experience. The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew comes equipped with a long list of features as standard. You get features like 17-inch cast-aluminum wheels, steel front and rear bumpers, 12.4-inch gauge cluster, Ford Co-Pilot 360 degree driver assistance features, 12-inch infotainment, and many other comforts and off-road features.

Fuel Economy
7.0/10

Without any compromises on the performance, the Ford F-150 Raptor has a decent fuel economy. With its 450 hp Twin-Turbo V6, you get 15 mpg in the city, 18 mpg on the highway, and 16 mpg of the combined economy. The bigger 36.0-gallon fuel tank is standard with the truck. It takes the highway range beyond 600 miles. With such an economy, you don't have to worry about gas stations on a long trip. The Raptor will not disappoint you in the city too with its 540 miles range.

As compared to the rivals, the Ford F-150 fairs well with its decent fuel economy and a massive fuel tank. The Nissan Titan PRO-4X offers the best fuel economy with its 20 MPG on the highway. The RAM 1500 TRX is too powerful to deliver decent fuel economy. This makes the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew a clear winner when you consider the range.

Interior
7.0/10

As it is a full-size pickup truck, the windshield visibility is substantial. The reworked version is more advanced than the previous generation. Ford is hanging on with the boxy cabin design which is quite the space saver, to be honest. The spacious cabin offers seating space for up to 5 passengers. It is designed with Alcantara leather and chrome accents. The dashboard layout is more like a cockpit where you get multiple displays embedded in the dash surrounded by numerous controls. The HVAC is conveniently placed below the infotainment, and you have a 12-inch digital gauge cluster to stay connected with the ride. The leather steering is paired with paddle shifters.

For the best comfort levels, you have leather-trimmed bucket seats at the front. They offer 10-way power adjustments with driver lumbar support. Moreover, you get heating and ventilation. The second row gets a 60-40 split-bench seat that can be folded down to get a cargo capacity of 52.8 cubic feet inside the cabin. The convenience features include voice-activated dual-zone air-conditioning, 3 12V DC outlets, 2 AC outlets, front center armrest, distance pacing cruise control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, adjustable head restraints, tilt & telescoping steering, and one-touch power windows. The storage is not limited as the F-150 has plenty of storage spaces throughout the cabin.

In terms of shoulder room and legroom in both rows, the F-150 Raptor is the most spacious. Both Ford and RAM offer a good amount of cargo space. The quality of the cabin on the Raptor is really good as well. The placement of functions and layout is clean as well. You have two interior color options with black and red/black. With the Raptor carbon fiber package, you can get carbon fiber accents for you inside the cabin. The Raptor surely looks more upscale than any other pickup truck in the group. Standout interior features include:

  • Alcantara suede leather trim
  • 10-way power seats
  • Heated seats
  • Voice-activated air-conditioning
  • Distance pacing cruise control
  • 12.4-inch gauge cluster
  • Split rear bench seat

What's there to keep you entertained?

Ford took it up a notch with a massive 12.0-inch infotainment touchscreen mounted at the center. It runs with the latest Ford SYNC 4 system that supports voice activation for different functions. You get connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, USB audio, and SiriusXM 360L radio 90-day subscription. It is connected to 7 speakers for music and entertainment. You can avail Bang and Olufsen premium speakers as well for a surround sound experience. With that, you get FordPass Connect 4G WiFi hotspot.

The infotainment system also offers a SYNC 4 navigation system. Moreover, you can also download the FordPass app to access the vehicle's functions through your device. The center of attraction is the 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster. It uses high-definition graphics and animation to display the driving modes of the truck. The display is crystal clear with its intuitive user interface and display of information such as speed and RPM gauges, gear shifter, fuel meter, and much more. All of that makes it one of the best clusters in the segment. Standout infotainment features include:

  • 12.0-inch touchscreen display
  • SYNC 4 system with voice activation
  • Apple CarPlay and Android auto
  • Bluetooth and USB
  • SiriusXM 360L radio
  • 18- speaker Bang and Olufsen speakers
  • FordPass Connect 4G WiFi hotspot
  • SYNC 4 navigation system
  • FordPass app

Exterior
6.0/10

The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew looks a lot different than the regular F-150 pickup trucks. Ford has made necessary distinctions to the Raptor as it looks more aggressive and capable in the whole lineup of pickups. As compared to the previous generation, it has remarkable updates to the exterior design and stance of the truck. With up to 8 sporty color options and black accents, the Ford F-150 Raptor looks irresistible. The front fascia gets massive LED headlamps with yellow DRLs integrated with the huge black grille. The visibility is much better with body-colored heated side mirrors. With massive fenders, the F-150 Raptor is wider.

The rear is updated as well where you get reworked LED tail lamps and a new rectangular decal with Ford badging on the tailgate (similar to the front grille) finished in black. To give it better strength, you get steel front and rear bumpers as well as aluminum skid plates. The dual exhausts pipes are uplifted and are adjoined with the rear bumper. The massive pickup truck stands tall above the ground with its 12.0-inch ground clearance that is a result of its massive 24-inch FOX racing Shocks. With the 37-inch off-road tires, the ground clearance goes up to 13.1 inches. The tires are wrapped around 17-inch cast-aluminum wheels. The overall stance is quite muscular.

With its lightweight aluminum and steel construction, the Ford F-150 Raptor is the lightest in the whole segment. Rivals such as Tundra and Titan are slightly heavier. However, the RAM 1500 TRX Crew Cab surpasses it by 800 pounds. Also, the TRX has the biggest dimensions and is even wider than the F-150 Raptor.

With a maximum 13.1-inch ground clearance, it rides higher than any other pickup truck, and that's how it tackles the off-roads with ease. No other rival offers ground clearance more than 11.9 inches, where the RAM 1500 TRX has a surprising ground clearance of just 8.0 inches. The short 145.0-inch wheelbase provides a great balance both on-road and off-road to the Raptor. Standout exterior features include:

  • LED headlamps and tail lamps with yellow DRLs
  • Black body accents
  • Bigger black grille
  • Body-colored huge side mirrors
  • Steel bumpers
  • Dual exhaust pipes
  • Wide fenders
  • 12.0-inch ground clearance

Safety
7.0/10

The mighty Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew gets its strength from a full boxed high-strength steel frame with large cross-sections. In terms of weight, the well-balanced frame isn't that heavy. The rest of the body is constructed with military-grade aluminum which can withstand anything that crosses its path. The 2020 F-150 Raptor SuperCrew was rated 5 Stars for its safety by the NHTSA. Also, the IIHS has rated the 2021 model 'Good' for its roof strength. Few salient safety features include:

  • Ford Copilot 360
  • Lane keep assist
  • Lane departure warning
  • Driver attention alert
  • Hitch assist camera
  • Blindspot with trailer coverage
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Curve control

Competition
6.0/10

2021 Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew vs 2021 RAM 1500 TRX Crew Cab

The F-150 Raptor is the most popular high-performance pickup truck. With its exceptional performance, off-roading, and towing capabilities, it offers a great value for its price.

There's no compromise in terms of technology, comfort, and convenience. The RAM 1500 TRX is a tough rival though with its 702 hp Supercharged HEMI that's really thrilling. Yet it is no match to the Raptor when it comes to extreme off-roading and towing capabilities.

2021 Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew vs 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Crew Cab

Being the most expensive pickup truck in Ford's lineup, the F-150 Raptor is not deprived of any feature that makes your experience better.

If you compare it with the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, the F-150 Raptor is spacious and well equipped. Still, the Tundra TRD Pro is ahead with its better towing and payload capacity and is more suitable as a daily driver. The F-150 Raptor comes into action with its onboard tech, off-roading performance, and superb performance.

2021 Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew vs 2021 Nissan Titan PRO-4X Crew Cab

When you compare the Ford F-150 Raptor with the Nissan Titan PRO-4X, the competition is really close. On one side, we have the Raptor that can do wonders with its 450 hp V6 engine, and yet it delivers a dynamic cabin experience with onboard assistance features, comfort, and entertainment.

The Nissan Titan PRO-4X, on the other hand, with its Endurance V8 offers a near similar package at a low price. The Titan PRO-4X doesn't have extraordinary performance yet is quite capable when it comes to the economy, towing, and payload capacity.

Final Verdict

The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew has received major updates to make the cabin experience better. Outside, it is a rugged off-roader that goes like the wind in the sand while you can get cozy inside the cabin. The cabin quality is upscale where you have a decent design and mild sporty approach with the carbon fiber accents and paddle shifters. Undoubtedly, both the powertrain and cabin make it desirable. For $64,145, it may seem overpriced, but the truckers know that it is worth every penny.
