Fuel Economy
3.5/10

2020 Ferrari 812 Superfast Coupe may have one of the best engines on the planet, but it also has a monstrous appetite, devouring fuel like a beast. With its big 24.3-gallon tank, the EPA predicted fuel economy of 12 MPG in the city and 16 MPG on the interstate; it can cruise for 315 miles. With this car, you may wind up spending more than $9000 on gas than you would with an average car.

In comparison to the rivals, the Ferrari’s enormous V-12 engine consumes a lot of fuel; both the Aston Martin and the McLaren have a higher fuel economy. You do, however, receive reimbursement from Ferrari in the form of a larger tank. Nonetheless, if you can afford one of these cars, you are never going to worry about gas mileage.

Interior
9.9/10

The interior of the 2020 Ferrari 812 Superfast Coupe is spacious, with a modern design, advanced technology, and good ergonomics. It's natural for cars in this category to have limited room and simple features, but Ferrari excels as a GT by giving ample space for both passengers and baggage. Starting with the steering wheel, this, like any other Ferrari or an exotic, is packed with buttons and knobs for navigating the screens. The horizontal dash loops on the air conditioner can be changed in any direction to channel air in any direction. There is no central infotainment system, but there are 2 screens instead and the passenger can use one of the screens to change the music.

There are a variety of interior color options, including an extensive list of leather upholstery and a full Alcantara suede headliner, as well as carbon fiber racing seats if you want something a little racier. To add to the GT flair, we would use electric-powered seats with diamond stitching. The trunk has 18 cubic feet of cargo space, which isn't enormous but adequate by supercar standards. There are only a few little door pockets and a solitary cup holder, and the central console is cramped. Because there aren't many huge storage choices inside the cabin, we recommend packing the majority of your belongings in the bag. Other standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control and LED lighting.

The Ferrari has plenty of interior space and enough space in the back, while Aston Martin claims they have a seating capacity for four, the extra space in the back practically can't be utilized for seating but comes in handy for your luggage.

Standout interior features:

  • 8-Way Power Driver Seat and 8-Way Power Passenger
  • Sport Leather Steering Wheel
  • Full Carpet Floor Covering
  • Dual-zone climate control & air conditioning
  • Day-Night Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror
  • Full Alcantara Simulated Suede Headliner

What’s there to keep you entertained?

A six-speaker sound system is standard on the 812 Superfast coupes. Bluetooth phone and music streaming are standard, as is an integrated navigation system with voice control. The Apple CarPlay feature is available, however, Android Auto is not. There are dual displays opposite the central tachometer and the one on the left can be controlled by a small physical knob and helps you switch between speed, engine temperature, and other parameters.

The screen on the right acts as an infotainment system with access to media, Bluetooth, and radio. This isn’t a very highly equipped infotainment system but does the job adequately.

A 6-speaker system is standard but you can opt for a 12-speaker hi-fi system along with a screen for a passenger to switch between music or access some data.

Standard Infotainment Features:

  • Apple CarPlay
  • 6-speaker stereo system
  • USB Ports and Bluetooth
  • Digital radio
  • 2 LCD monitors

Exterior
9.9/10

2020 Ferrari 812 Superfast Coupe’s exterior is applauded for its extreme design language that feels carved through an aerodynamic profile. The design is readily recognizable as a Ferrari and yet looks new on the 812 Superfast. The car has a conventional long hood front-engine GT car design, yet it is undeniably one of the best-looking cars on the market. The rear is reminiscent of the 365 GTB4 (Daytona), while the front is reminiscent of the Berlinetta. The car is still bigger in size than the Berlinetta so maneuvering it through narrow lanes will be a problem. Ferrari manages to get a 47%-53% weight distribution on the car which is absolutely phenomenal.

Along with the curves that follow the side profile, the new extended LED is a nice addition. The new enormous air intakes along the headlamps on the bonnet are stunning, and the rounded tail light clusters show off Ferrari's traditional style. There are 3 flaps at the rear which open up to 14 degrees to reduce the aerodynamic drag. The 812 Superfast is nothing short of perfection, with the dual stainless steel or titanium exhaust at the rear and the standard 20-inch alloy wheels. Along with multiple shades in red, you get an option to select from over 25 colors and we would suggest you get the Rosso 70 Anni which was created for Ferrari’s 70th anniversary.

The 2020 Ferrari 812 Superfast is oddly one of the shortest compared to rivals, only a bit longer than the McLaren. However, it has a longer wheelbase and a very similar size to the Aston Martin DBS. The Lamborghini is the widest of the lot and also the lengthiest this is due to the classic styling followed by the Italian manufacturer and weighs similar to that of the Ferrari.

Standout exterior features:

  • Fixed Rear Window w/Defroster
  • Fully Automatic Projector Beam Led Low/High Beam Daytime Running Auto-Leveling Headlamps w/Delay-Off
  • LED Headlamps and Tail Lamps with LED DRL signature
  • Vents sculpted near the Headlamps on the Bonnet to improve downforce.
  • 3 Active Flaps on the Rear Diffuser that open up to 14 degrees to reduce drag

Safety
4.5/10

The 2020 Ferrari 812 Superfast Coupe like any other sports car, lacks advanced safety equipment, leaving you with only a few rudimentary parking sensors and rearview cameras. Although there are airbags in the front and sides, there is no blind-spot monitoring or forward collision mitigation. There are no ratings from the NHTSA or the IIHS which is expected as it is an expensive supercar to be crashed into a wall.

Standout safety features:

  • F1-Trac ABS And Driveline Traction Control
  • Side Impact Beams
  • 4 Airbags
  • Brembo’s Extreme design carbon-ceramic brakes
  • Side slip control version 5

2020 Ferrari 812 Superfast Coupe vs. 2020 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ

The company's long nemesis, and Italian counterpart, Lamborghini, offers an excellent choice in the form of the Aventador, which, like the Ferrari, is one of the last cars, offering a naturally aspirated V-12 and rear-wheel drive. But make no mistake, the Lamborghini is far less of a grand tourer than the Ferrari, and unlike the Ferrari, it relies a lot less on electronics. So unless you have a performance-oriented vehicle in mind, the Ferrari is a better choice.

2020 Ferrari 812 Superfast Coupe vs. 2020 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is another vehicle with a V-12 engine and twin turbos that perform exceptionally well. The car is a little heavier and slower than the Ferrari, but the Aston Martin allows you to seat four people in the car, and it has a very comfortable ride. With heaps of leather and forged carbon fiber, the Aston focuses more on luxury than performance. Overall, the Aston Martin is a better GT in the segment.

2020 Ferrari 812 Superfast Coupe vs. 2020 McLaren 720S

The McLaren 720s is more agile and lighter than the Ferrari, which could be owing to the McLaren’s smaller twin-turbo V-8 engine. According to the stats, the McLaren is a better overall automobile, with faster acceleration, braking times, and handling. However, it falls short of the performance and power of the Ferrari's V-12 engine and the Ferrari’s ability to shift the car to an almost grand-tourer.

Final Verdict

Despite being one of the most expensive cars on the market, the 2020 Ferrari 812 superfast delivers one of the best performances and driving experiences money can buy. It’s violent, luxurious, comfortable and thrilling all at the same time. The car features one of the best engines, handles wonderfully, is quicker than you can even think of and feels nothing short of a GT when cruising. The Ferrari would be a privilege to own, with its traditional red color and the prancing horse.
