Overview

The charger has been there in the muscle car division for more than 30 years; it earned a comprehensive revision in 2015 though the vehicle is alike structurally since it was introduced. Net getting many updates, the Charger will maintain this trend as a vestige model. Each Dodge Charger is similar to the forerunners with just minor changes.

In the age of standardization, plenty of available body stripes and color lend it a pleasant old-school charm. With standard V6, it’s a smooth intercity express. With HEMI V8s, it becomes a howling, tire-smoking muscle car. The Charger Daytona draws inspiration from its legendary predecessor - 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. Oh! We forgot the 707 hp hellcat – fastest production sedan in the world.

Impressively, apart from being quick, the V6 delivers excellent fuel economy and even V8s are relatively efficient. Infotainment is handled by the Chrysler group's inherent 2021 iteration of the U-connect system. The Charger rides well too and its fun to drive around corners as well.

Buying Advice

We would also recommend you to go with the base SXT trim and add Drive Confidence Group as it includes rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors along with a backup camera, and heated exterior mirrors.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

There is nothing new as such introduced in the 2021 Dodge Charger. This includes its traditional three-box design, wraparound headlights, a sloped nose, feature similar to the previous models. Though it’s a large muscle car with a manner of its own, this is marketed as a 4-door family sedan.

Charger offers ample passenger room and roomy trunk too. Buyers longing for sportiness will still be able to see the sharp-looking GT,  R/T, and Hellcat models to pick from. Also, there will be a widebody package for further enrichment of its status as the most powerful sedan in its segment.

Features
7.0/10

The SE and SXT trim of the 2021 Dodge Charger Sedan draw their power from the 3.6-liter V6 engine while the R/T and Daytona trims get a 5.7-liter V8 engine. As for the R/T Scat and Daytona 392 trims, you get a 6.4-liter V8 engine while the Hellcat has a 6.2-liter v8 engine under its hood.

Rear-wheel drive and the 8-speed automatic transmission are common for all the trims; although with the SE and SXT trim, you can opt for an all-wheel-drive system as well.

We would also recommend you to go with the base SXT trim and add Drive Confidence Group as it includes rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors along with a backup camera, and heated exterior mirrors.

Fuel Economy
4.0/10

The car is heavy and sturdy; using a 3.6-liter V6, the Charger might seem to consume a lot of fuel, but the reality is something else. The car can give mpg figures of 19 in the city and 30 on the highways, mixing the both can turn out to be mpg of 23.

When comparing the Dodge Charger with its rivals, it offers the most prominent fuel tank, which can add up to covering miles/more distance. When having a full tank, the Charger can travel 352 city miles and 555 highway miles.

Contrasted with the opponents, the Dodge Charger SXT gives the best mpg figures, having the biggest fuel tank. The Chrysler 300 stands the same as the Dodge Charger.

Interior
7.0/10

As of the exterior of the Charger, the insides are the same too; with this, we mean the interior of this car also receives minimal updates. Sport seats are offered on standard in the SXT trim, which can be changed to Nappa leather sport if the buyer wants to; also, this is provided at no additional cost.

This car is very spacious and roomy in the front, but it’s not the same at the rear. Three people can sit in the rear seat, but it is restricted to 2 persons. The car is very capacious and ample as compared to its opponents. Though the interior of the base variant of the vehicle is not that premium, a lot of plastic can be seen in the base variant. The 2021 Dodge Charger gets an interior design refresh with genuine leather seats.

Exterior
7.0/10

Bold and Brawny, these two words come to your mind when one hears about the Dodge Charger. It’s long, wide, and low, which is the opposite of those boring American trucks. When the vehicle moves, it is like a berg drifting, enormous and powerful. The car is engaging and is very appealing in terms of styling; also, certain packages offer numerous possibilities to customize the car cosmetically.

If one loves the brute and husky looks, the Dodge Charger is their vehicle. Also, many people are enamored with enhancing their car, customizing them afresh: the Dodge Charger would fit in ideally.

5.0/10

While the standard Charger comes with the standard rearview view camera and rear parking sensors, advanced active safety systems like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning are also available.

Competition
6.0/10

Dodge Charger Vs Toyota Avalon

The very affordable Toyota Avalon is represented by its original luxury and quiet riding experience. The standard V6 engine cruises phenomenally and the handling is quite agile given the size of the car. To make it even more tempting, Toyota offers the standard safety features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automated emergency braking.

When we compare the Avalon with the 2021 Dodge Charger Sedan, we see that is falling behind terribly in engine performance and acceleration, braking is nowhere close to being impressive, has better fuel efficiency ratings though and decent interior and cargo area.

Dodge Charger Vs Chrysler 300

If you're looking for power, these sedans are among the best. The Charger is explicitly the best in terms of horsepower. Both vehicles here have similar engines in their baseline models. They feature a 3.6L V6 capable of producing around 300 horsepower. However, as you go up in trim level, the Charger quickly takes the lead. The 300's 300C trim features a 5.7L V8 HEMI capable of producing 363 horsepower. With a similar engine in the Charger, it can produce 370 horsepower.

If it’s a definite retro appeal you’re after in a four-door sedan, few vehicles can encounter with the reasonably priced 2020 Chrysler 300. The Charger may be dated, but it’s still a charmer and can pull double duty as a sedate highway cruiser or a drag strip monster.

Final Verdict

In conclusion, there is nothing much to reason about this car, as it is essentially the 2020 Dodge Charger. This car strikes a perfect balance between every aspect; contrasting it with other muscle cars, it has the best range on offer. Weather its cabin or cargo space or brute power, however, the base variant is not that attractive, but yeah, it still comes under muscle car.
