Three trips to the dealership to be told it is working properly because the car changes from warm to tepid to cold air due to the ambient temperature outside? I purchased my 2019 Chevy Traverse new and at 50K miles I've already had to have $2800 of major repairs done. I had to repair my Front Exhaust Pipe and Muffler that was not covered by my powertrain warranty that cost $1600 to repair and my bank 1 catalytic converter was cracked and had an exhaust leak that would have cost $1200 to repair. Fortunately, the catalytic converter was covered under my powertrain warranty.Read More

The 2019 Chevrolet Traverse comes in at number 14 in our midsize SUV ranking list. It is packed with innovation and is extremely spacious for transporting people. It offers more passengers and cargo area than almost every competitor in its class, as well as simple touchscreen features. Among the most prominent models is the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. Indeed, the car manufacturer believes that "it's difficult to just not recognize this SUV." However, this statement can be biased as customers have made a lot of complaints regarding this car. The Chevy Traverse's common problems are quite severe like the airbags malfunctioning, electrical systems failing, engine losing power, service brakes, steering, and suspension. The 2019 Chevrolet Traverse's competitors are equally impressive: the Honda Pilot, the Ford Explorer, and the Toyota Highlander. The 2019 Traverse is a fairly reliable blend in the segment, with only 129 complaints and 3 recalls. Let's examine in greater detail the problems it has encountered thus far.

2019 Chevrolet Traverse problems, and user complaints

Engine and Mechanical Complaints

  • ENGINE: The new Traverse has a V-6 engine that is both powerful and efficient. However, for consumers to be pleased, the engine must be powerful and properly functioning. Neither, however, can be said of the Traverse. The engine oil may contain too much fuel, necessitating a PCV valve substitute in the camshaft coat and ECM information.
  • SERVICE BRAKES: When driving, it is assumed that pressing the brake pedal will bring the vehicle to a complete stop. When brake problems arise, it can be both discouraging and frightening. The material used on the rear disc brake pad shim is causing squealing noises.
  • STEERING: Chevrolet Traverse SUVs experienced steering issues. Drivers having difficulty turning and steering their vehicles Affected owners reported that the steering concern almost put them in danger. The majority of owners experienced this issue around 80,000 miles.
  • SUSPENSION: The Chevrolet Traverse experienced a problem with unexpected limping down the road after 88,000 miles. When the accelerator pedal is pressed, the engine makes a sound, but the vehicle does not drive and the SUV rolls forward. In addition, owners had difficulty changing the SUVs into gear.

Safety Complaints

  • AIR BAGS: The contact was the owner of a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact's vehicle was rear-ended by the other car traveling 50 mph as it turned left into a driveway. The vehicle of the contact was pushed into a ditch. Due to the failure of the driver's airbag to deploy, the contact's head struck the steering wheel.

Dashboard

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: When it comes to a modern vehicle, chances are it might have to do with the electrical system. However, the airbag Sensing Diagnostic Modules were never turned off, resulting in the airbags failing to deploy in the event of an accident. In addition, the infotainment center goes black, as if the car was turned off using the start/stop button. When it entirely shuts down, the brake pedal becomes soft and falls to the floor.

Should you buy a used 2019 Chevrolet Traverse?

A Chevrolet Traverse has eight seats, which makes this mid-size crossover SUV a preferred choice among families. However, the highly-priced vehicle is a major headache to drive. In addition, the heat/ac control system is badly planned out and categorized, requiring you to halt and scour for the correct button to press. The 2019 Traverse is prophesied to be 82 out of 100 reliable. A J.D. Power anticipated reliability scoring system of 81- 90 is considered significant. The Traverse thrives in terms of functionality and adaptability. The ride reconciles comfort in town with corner-to-corner consistency. However, issues with Chevy Traverse are quite frequent, it concerns most drivers. The 2019 Traverse has problems with the airbags, electrical systems, engines, service brakes, steering, and suspension. There are other options when it comes to SUVs from Honda, Ford, and Toyota worth considering.
