... just stay the same. Front air dam under bumper is too low, will hit when pulling into a parking place that has a curb. You don't know the black plastic piece has contacted anything when pulling in, once you back out you can hear it flip over and drag off the concrete, so you have to park without getting very close to a curb or concrete wheel stop. Seats feel like you are sitting on a cinder block, very flat and no contour or support to them. Twisting roads are notRead More

... out the day we got it back. They also said there was a wheel bearing noise. We took it to a different GM dealership then. They said the power steering was shot and the noise we were hearing was the transfer case. They fixed the problems. But the power steering has a small short vibration when turning the steering wheel. Spending close to $40K on an SUV might not appeal to everyone but the Buick has managed to sell over 50K units of the 2016 Buick Enclave. The fact that it holds just 27 registered complaints and 3 recalls so far tells that the Buick is reliable. The Enclave is said to have issues with its powertrain but the rate of people facing them isn’t that high, making it a car that one can depend on. The SUV faces competition from the Honda Pilot, the Ford Explorer, and the GMC Acadia, which are all much cheaper than the Buick Enclave but come with a lot more problems and recalls in comparison. The "1A Auto: Repair Tips & Secrets Only Mechanics Know" highlights that timing chains stretch can be there along with ignition coil malfunction and water pump leaking.

User complaints and problems

Electrical Problems

  • Warning light – Owners noted that the airbag light would come on constantly but when the car was diagnosed, the dealers found that the passenger side airbag light comes on whenever the wiring harness was moved. This was happening due to a loose connector and upon changing it, the problem was solved.
  • Powertrain Control Module – The PCM malfunction overrides the engine causing it to automatically accelerate. This causes the driver to lose control and also increases the chance of a crash. Dealer stated that this issue can be fixed over a software update/reprogramme.

Mechanical Problems

  • Engine – There were complaints regarding random engine stalls and an abnormal noise coming from the engine and it was found that the engine timing chain had jumped a couple of teeth. Getting this issue fixed earlier can eliminate a complete breakage of the timing chain which can lead the car to become un-drivable.
  • Powertrain - The car was found to shudder when shifting gears and the mechanic found the issue to be coming from the torque converter and stated that if the lock-up clutch does not unlock, it results in the vehicle shuddering.
  • Steering – The users were trying to make a turn when the steering suddenly stiffened and upon inspection by the mechanics, it was found that the power steering fluid had been leaking. The pump was replaced and the issue was resolved.

Safety Problems

  • Seatbelt – The seatbelts feel overly tight when latched and it causes bruises on the chest when brakes are applied suddenly. Also, a user could not unlatch the belt on the third row, leaving their kid stuck.

Structural Problems

  • Doors – The lower edge on both the driver and front passenger doors is very sharp and this has cut deep wounds on people’s legs requiring immediate medical help.

Should you buy the 2016 Buick Enclave?

The 2016 Buick Enclave sure is a lot more expensive compared to its rivals but for the extra money, you get an SUV that comes with a far lesser amount of issues. The materials used on the Buick feel long-lasting and carry quality like none of its competitors do. One piece of advice to the Enclave buyers is to get a U-shaped door edge guard to cover the sharp edge on the door that can cause a hazard. Even though the total complaints on this car have been minimal, the Enclave has been recalled thrice, showing the company’s level of attention and care for its customers. For this reason, it is recommended to opt for the 2016 Buick Enclave and we are sure that it wouldn’t disappoint.
