The Toyota Venza makes a spectacular comeback for the 2021 model year after a hiatus of seven years in a row. Wearing an all-new design along with a standard hybrid heart, the Venza Hybrid has faced only five complaints and a single recall to date, impressive for a newly-launched vehicle. Among the total number of complaints registered against the 2021 Venza Hybrid, gasoline tank fault saw a couple of complaints while the headlamps faced another couple of complaints as well. The safety department of the vehicle saw a single complaint only. In the segment, the Venza Hybrid competes with the Ford Escape Hybrid and the Honda CR-V Hybrid with a base price of $32,470.
Toyota Venza Hybrid user complaints and problems
Safety problems
- Seatbelt malfunction: A single complaint was registered regarding a seatbelt malfunction in a 2021 Venza Hybrid. The owner reported that after being involved in a collision with another car, the passenger side seatbelt at the front failed to restrain the occupant and resulted in the passenger getting injured. The manufacturer was informed and the owner was assured minimal assistance while a physical examination for the fault was denied by the automaker.
Miscellaneous problems
- Headlamp issue: A couple of owners complained regarding a shadow or dark spot while turning on the headlamps on their vehicles at night. The dark spot appeared on both the headlamps, making it difficult to drive at night in poorly lit areas.
- Fuel tank capacity fault: Two complaints were registered regarding this issue. The owners stated in the reports that despite the official gas tank capacity being 14.5 gallons, the actual gas tank capacity cam out to be 11 gallons while refueling. It resulted in a much lower driving range than the official numbers.

Turn Signal Lights May Fail/FMVSS 108 |
A short circuit can cause dimming or failure of the rear turn signals and hazard lights, reducing the vehicle's visibility to other drivers and increasing the risk of a crash. |
Dealers will replace both rear turn signal LED bulbs and replace the rear turn signal light assembly as necessary, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed on March 18, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available by June 30, 2022. |
Should you buy a used Toyota Venza Hybrid?
The Toyota Venza Hybrid is a brand-new offering in the segment and might be hard to find in the used car lots. If you manage to get your hands on a used example at a lower price, it would be a brilliant decision to go with it due to the value it offers. However, if you wish to go for the older generation Venza, you can have that complete peace of mind since the vehicle proved to be a reliable one even back in the 2015 model year and earlier.
