With the improving capabilities of the midsize pickup trucks, options like the Toyota Tundra Crewmax have fallen ranks in the priority lists of the buyers. Nonetheless, these full-size choices continue to carve a niche for themselves and the 2015 Tundra Crewmax does it with its reliability. Though it is a cogent performer that stays true to its commercial capabilities, the truck’s dependability puts it ahead of its competitors. In the latest iteration, the Tundra has 36 complaints and has been called back five times. While its extensive sales figures do justify the statistics, the recall-grievances ratio, like always, seems blown out of proportion. The 2015 Toyota Tundra Crewmax price starts at above $35,000 and competes with the likes of the Ford F-250 SuperCab, the GMC 2500HD Crew Cab, and the RAM 2500 Crew Cab.

2015 Toyota Tundra Crewmax User Complaints and Problems

Safety Complaints

  • Problem with airbag deployment: The Toyota Tundra issues are neither extensive nor concerning. Yet, on official and unofficial forums, buyers have reported the non-deployment of airbags in case of a crash. In another case, a buyer has also reported all the airbags except the front passenger-side airbag deploying. While no injuries have been reported, both issues can result in safety hazards.

Electric System Complaints

  • Exterior lighting issue: In the list of the 2015 Tundra complaints, buyers of the full-size pickup truck have reported the vehicle’s head and taillights losing their power when the turn signals are activated at night. As a result, it is difficult for the driver to keep track of the road, which hampers frontward visibility. Several complaints have been listed on the unofficial forums, where buyers have also mentioned the cabin lights going out.
  • Other lighting issues: In two distinct cases, buyers have also reported additional complaints about the lighting system. While one user has reported the radio being excessively bright during the nighttime, another complainant has recorded the gauge lights and radio screen to be excessively dim when the DRLs are set to automatic.

Mechanical Complaints

  • Failure of trailer brake controller: In the list of the 2015 Toyota Tundra problems, buyers have reported the trailer braking system not providing appropriate braking force. As a result, the system fails to stop the trailer, which has resulted in near-miss collisions. Currently, using the manual lever is the only solution to bring the trailer to a halt.

Structural Complaints

  • Malfunctioning front windshield wipers: Among the Toyota Tundra issues, buyers have also reported issues with the structure of the truck. The most common complaint is the improper functioning of the windshield wipers due to internal damage to the components. As a result, the wipers fail to function when required, which creates a safety issue in untoward weather conditions. While a couple of cases have been reported on NHTSA, similar complaints have been made on unofficial but trusted platforms.

Should you buy a 2015 Toyota Tundra Crewmax?

The 2015 Toyota Tundra Crewmax truck is an impressive choice for all types of buyers. It is structurally sound, provides ample passenger space, and is designed to gain ascendancy in terms of towing and payload capacity. With the changes introduced in the current iteration, the full-size pickup truck further cements its position in the market. A standard V8 unit makes it a potent performer, while a high degree of reliability allows it to be favored by most family buyers. So, yes, we suggest buyers opt for the Tundra Crewmax in its class. However, if you still want to explore other options, the Ford F-250 SuperCabis the next best alternative.
