Overview

The 2012 Scion iQ hatchback makes for an excellent contender in the subcompact hatchback. With just one trim on offer, the Scion iQ has a base MSRP of $15,265, competing directly with the Fiat 500, the Chevrolet Sonic, and the Honda Fit. Only a 1.3L inline-4 engine is offered, mated to a continuously variable transmission. Together, they produce 94 horsepower and 89 lb-ft of torque. Accelerating from 0-60 in 11.6 seconds, the iQ maintains a combined fuel economy of 37 MPG. Scion offers the iQ in 7 stunning colors, with the hot lava being a particular favorite of ours. 

Buying Advice

As there is only a single trim on offer, you have no other choice left. As standard, it gets 16-inch steel wheels, a leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel with audio controls, a 50/50-split-folding the rear seat, Bluetooth and a four-speaker sound system, etc. However, Scion makes up for it with a vast array of optional equipment like 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, shorter springs and stiffer anti-roll bars, a premium sound system navigation system, and a handful of other accessories and features.
