The 2014 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab gets a couple of engine options for its duties. The base engine is a 2.5L four-cylinder which is rated at 152 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission which sends all the power to the rear wheels only, as standard. One can also go for an optional five-speed automatic with this engine that makes driving easy in busy areas. The other engine option on offer is a 4.0L V6 rated at 261 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque which can be had with either a six-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic which sends power to all the four wheels as standard.
As for the acceleration, the inline-4 under the hood is rather sluggish and completes the quarter-mile in 18.1 seconds, whereas the sprint to 60 MPH takes 10.7 seconds. The more powerful V6 does the deeds in a rather quick 15.2 seconds and 7.6 seconds respectively.

The Honda Ridgeline is the only truck here that comes with a V6 as its standard engine, while the other two have a more efficient inline-4 on offer. The Frontier’s base engine is the slowest in the competition and is also the least powerful. The Tacoma's results are no good either but it does better in terms of acceleration when compared to the Frontier. The V6 counterparts of the Taco and the Frontier make very similar acceleration when compared to a Ridgeline.

The bigger V6 on the Honda sips more fuel than the others’ inline-4 mills, obviously, but still provides decent range from the biggest tank in the segment. The Nissan and the Toyota share very similar tank capacities and fuel-economy figures, with the latter being a bit more fuel-efficient on the highways.
The 2014 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab gets a pretty basic interior at its base trims which looks rugged but has a lot of hard plastics being used on commonly-touched areas, making it a bit difficult for the people to get comfortable inside. The case gets better as the trim levels are upgraded but the increase in comfort isn’t much since the overall material quality is not comparable to what the rivals, like the Honda Ridgeline, offer. There are a lot of cubby spaces inside which helps get things arranged pretty well.
The seats inside are comfortable and have vinyl upholstery as standard, while the subsequent upgrades include cloth and leather upholstery. The seating area in the seats is pretty soft and the support is okayish, in case you try to drive enthusiastically. The higher trims also add in power adjustability and heating for added comfort. The rear seating area is comfortable but the position of the seats is rather uncomfortable and the person sits upright, which makes for an uncomfortable long drive.

The Frontier has a pretty spacious cabin at the front but the rear is not really what one would call comfortable. The seating position is rather upright and the tight shoulder room and legroom add to the woes. If one wants a comfy cabin, the Honda Ridgeline is the truck you should be going for because of the premium quality inside, right from the base trim, and the materials used inside. The only caveat is the cargo capacity which is pretty low for a truck.

The Toyota Tacoma is the lightest of all the trucks in the segment and also is the longest, which helps create space inside the cabin. It has the most ground clearance as well as the longest wheelbase which helps in improving the ride quality and also while off the road. For a smaller truck its like having a large one because of all the room for people, pets and stuff. Great for travel and quick trips. There are no blind sides when driving or changing lanes and I feel safe.
