Overview

Does Land Rover make a hybrid? Yes, we appreciate how Land Rover Range Rover hybrid cars have come a long way. Land Rover now offers the Range Rover SE PHEV with a P440e powertrain in the SWB version. That said, the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover P440e SE is the only plug-in hybrid configuration, starting at an MSRP of $104,900.

The 2023 Range Rover plug-in hybrid is equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine paired with an electric motor, boasting 434 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. With an estimated range of about 500 miles on a full tank of gas and an EV-only range of 51 miles, the 2023 Range Rover PHEV range is competitive. Check out the video review by Motormouth, where the reviewer couple answers a question on the brand's reliability as well.

Key Observations in the video:

  • Smooth and comfortable
  • Standard active rear steering
  • Easy to maneuver and nimble
  • Three EV modes: EV, Save and Hybrid
  • Biggest USP of the SUV is its design
  • Improved wading depth of 35.4 inches
  • Improved infotainment system with crisp graphics

The SUV competes with Volvo XC40 Recharge PHEV, the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid, and the BMW X5 xDrive 45e.

Buying Advice

The Range Rover is a complete shop of several features in itself. 21-inch wheels, prosperous seats, panoramic sunroof, Terrain Response 2, standard adaptive cruise control, 13.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple and Android smartphone integration, and heated front and rear seats, triple zone automatic climate control and many more to go. These features make it fulfilling, but when someone wishes to do an extra activity like towing, then optional features are worth going for. Premium seats elevate comfort to the next level. The black-exterior trim glances phenomenal.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

For 2023, this Plug-in hybrid vehicle joins the Range Rover family. It bangs an inline 6 engine that mates with a 48 kWh hybrid system and generate 434 hp. The newest Land Rover PHEV will be known as P440e– showing company’s little steps to envision an electric vehicle lineup. This promises up to 48 miles of range when wholly dependent on electric motor only. The SUV competes with Volvo XC40 Recharge PHEV, the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid, and the BMW X5 xDrive 45e.

Fuel Economy
7.4/10

The hybrid vehicle manages better mileage than gasoline-based vehicles. Land Rover strives to achieve the same mechanism, but a load of luxury punch enables it to remain down the line. The EPA estimations of the new P400e are yet to be released. The gasoline P400 version expects 18 mpg in the city and 26 on the highways. The New Range Rover plug-in hybrid is estimated to bring even more bright mileage numbers. It carries an 18.9-gallon fuel tank. With a 48 kWh of the hybrid system, the company claims it sends a 48-mile electric-only range.

EPA Estimations of all these vehicles are yet to be confirmed. Of all of these hybrid SUVs, Porsche Cayenne sends the largest fuel-carrying capacity. BMW X5 xDrive 45e gains more than double the combined range of what the Cayenne E-Hybrid is expected to bring combined. Volvo XC90 Recharge PHEV and Land Rover Range Rover Plug-in hybrid amasses almost the same fuel-carrying capacity.

Interior
7.4/10

Inside the newest Range Rover PHEV, the cabin has a significant level of supremacy. It begets a stupendously clean and sophisticated center layout. Highly thick seats ensure a tremendous fraction of comfort. A remarkably immense cabin delegates a huge room for the passengers, so that they can sleep well. Everything placed beautifully in specific places feels made of high-quality elements. The doors are large enough. They open widely to acclimate people without any ups and downs. Even taller people carry no issue getting in and out of the car. Rear door panels care nicely bolstered material and hold controls for window adjustments and some storage to carry bottles. With the same intentions, the front door panels provide a long list of seat adjustments. The front and rear seats carry a heating function by default. Front seats offer 20-way power adjustability. Rear seats can be reclined to stretch legs.

Simplistic approach continues with the clean dashboard. It holds a thin line to consolidate AC vents and embodies a three-zone automatic climate control. A center 13.1 touchscreen adorns the front very beautifully. Power tilt and telescopic steering column offers controls with piano black trim and dual tone texture. A large pervasive center armrest mounts on the center console. It better controls the storage area underneath. The gear knob and other controls fully finalized with a satin chrome finish justify the legacy of Range Rover being the most luxurious Land Rover car. A wireless charging pad and a few controls finish the counting.

  • Carpet floor trim
  • Power door lock with auto lock

A center-placed curved 13.1-inch tablet-like infotainment touchscreen is the source for all entertainment and controls. It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connection both wirelessly. The screen layout is perpetually stylish looking. Though, the interface and controls are distinctive to use. They require a generous practice to operate flawlessly. It receives Amazon Alexa as voice assistant. Besides a 13.7-inch fully digital instrumentation, a wireless charging pad, in-dash navigation system, and SiriusXM Radio is offered standard. An 11.4-inch rear seat entertainment touchscreens are available as an upgrade. 15-speaker Meridian sound is offered default while the same 35-speaker system is kept optional.

Exterior
7.4/10

Exterior appearances, similar to interior style scores full marks. It is simple. It is elegantly designed and styled. Land Rover makes the best proportionate-looking vehicle. One of the most beautifully designed SUVs lists includes the Range Rover too. A strong hood contains a turbocharged inline-6 engine sitting with a hybrid system underneath. Fully flat bonnet bends mesmerizingly at the tip to make space for Land Rover signature letters. The iconic Land Rover grille fully finished in black accents derives a dapper appearance. And impersonate the Land Rover logo in deep right corner. The front LED headlight complements the boxy-shaped design of car. Parking sensors mounted on symmetrically placed front bumper helps during tight parking lanes. The refined side profile now holds a two-lined structure replacing the signature-styled three-line design. Standard 21-inch wheels adorn the look, with tires of dimensions P275/50WR21. Optional 23-inch wheels serve a butter-like ride experience. Body-colored door handles integrate into doors very easily. Out of fifty exterior shades offered, we like it in Dynamic Black. Uncluttered rear profile retrieves line-oriented brake lights, fully black rear window, Range Rover wrote, and Land Rover badging hanging on power liftgate rear cargo.

Competition

2023 Land Rover Range Rover P440e vs. 2023 Volvo XC90 Recharge PHEV

With less money, Volvo brings world-known safety for all seven passengers. Land Rover brings a seating of five but takes comfort and perfection to another level. More power is sent by Volvo and its lightest body design crowns it the fastest luxury PHEV under $80k. Land Rover is targeted more towards simplified tech with an abundance of luxury features while Volvo shines with a good luxurious family hauler.

2023 Land Rover Range Rover P440e vs. 2023 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid

Porsche carries better maximum towing capacity, while Land Rover serves the best-in-segment off-road versatility. Porsche remembers almost nothing to say in the name of safety features and driver aids, while Land Rover had an abundance to offer in the same. Porsche lends complimentary maintenance for 10,000 miles or up to one year. Meanwhile charging over $100k still does not have anything on Land rover.

2023 Land Rover Range Rover P440e vs. 2023 BMW X5 xDrive 45e

German manufacturer provides a better-combined mileage with its hybrid system. Land Rover ensures up to 48 miles of electric-only range with the Range Rover P400e. BMW limits it up to 30 miles. With less money, BMW seems a more cost-effective vehicle. Range Rover targets the personality of the shopper focused on a high-end luxury vehicle. It also surpasses better cargo-carrying space.

Final Verdict

Yes. The value offered truly validates its hike in price. An iconic styling of the most luxurious Land Rover stands distinctively from its rivals and looks like a car worth over $100k. Authoritative seats, clean and stylish-looking interior, an uncluttered dashboard, a long list of driver-assistance and safety features, business-class-like comfort, and an infamous brand for its high-end off-road capabilities are some of the key insights of Range Rover. Fewer mileage figures, a vague infotainment system, and no complimentary maintenance are some drawbacks. Want the safest Volvo? XC90 Recharge is the one. Wish to challenge towing capacities of Range Rover with a German DNA? Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid is the one. Aspires to bring the most affordable luxury PHEV home? Nothing can be better than BMW X5 xDrive 45e.
