For an already overcrowded segment, the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque tries to stand out with its best-in-segment design and upscale interiors. While the Evoque does not possess the typical features of an SUV like a roomy second row and an enormous cargo area, it does try to justify its place with its spritely performance and luxury features. While it gets outperformed in its segment by its rivals in terms of practicality, its offroading capabilities and performance are still unmatched.

As with every other Land Rover, the Evoque is just as infamous for its high maintenance cost, the question arises whether the Range Rover Evoque is a reliable SUV or not. Here we take a look at some of the problems with the Evoque and its reliability and performance against its rivals like the 2021 BMW X1 and the 2021 Audi Q3.

2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque User Complaints and Problems

Engine and Mechanical Problems

  • Engine - An owner of a 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque complained that their car stopped all of a sudden while driving due to some malfunction with the engine.
  • Suspension - Some owners of the Range Rover Evoque have complained about suspension issues that might occur due to extensive off-road use.
  • Steering - Owners of the Range Rover Evoque have complained about the loss of steering control as a bolt for one of the knuckles on the front suspension could become loose.
  • Fuel rail - Some owners of the Range Rover Evoque have complained about leaking fuel rail end caps. This could also be a big safety concern as the liquid fuel may leak and reach an ignition source which could increase the risk of a fire.
  • Brakes - Many owners of the Range Rover Evoque have complained about squeaky brakes.

Electrical Problems

  • Navigation system - Navigation system malfunction is one of the most common issues with the Range Rover Evoque. The issue could be because of a software issue which could be resolved by an update.
  • Reverse camera - The reverse camera might be slightly out of alignment which could cause the driver not to see the whole image.

Safety Problems

  • Seat belt - Some models of the Range Rover Evoque had loose seat belts due to the wrong retractor part installed. Land Rover issued a recall in response to this issue.
  • Emergency call system - The emergency call system in some of the Range Rover Evoque Models does not conform to the standard requirement and may be ineffective.

Exterior Problems

  • Windshield wiper - Some models of the Range Rover Evoque have had complaints of a defective windshield wiper. The defective windshield might increase the risk of a crash as the washer system’s fuse fails and reduces driver visibility.

Should you buy the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque?

According to the NHTSA, the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque doesn't have any recalls and only one user complaint. But that doesn't help its case in the reliability department. The Evoque happens to be one of the least reliable SUVs mainly due to heavy maintenance costs. Coming to its competition, the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque lags behind in the segment as the 2021 BMW X1 offers better cargo space, mileage, and handling. However, the Range Rover Evoque has an upper hand in terms of off-roading capabilities. Another option is the 2021 Audi Q3 which has better safety ratings and handling than the Evoque.

Overall, the 2021 Range Rover Evoque is only a good option if you don't want to compromise on the offroading capabilities otherwise we recommend looking into other available options.
