Overview

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ (Super Veloce Jota) is the ultimate track weapon to serve one purpose, to rip the tracks apart. Lamborghini has set a benchmark in the track-focused supercar segment with this one. It is the latest incarnation of the Aventador but sadly the last of the dying breed. It is the most powerful naturally aspirated Lamborghini to date with a monstrous naturally aspirated V12 engine that sounds ungodly. Naturally aspirated engines might not be with us much longer, so we would enjoy it while we still can.

Buying Advice

Cars like these mostly come only in one option and this car is not about modern gimmicks or luxury technology. It is all about performance and precise handling on the track. It has all the technology and features to make you feel like a race car driver behind the wheel. The interior features are focused more on racing. The seats are carbon fiber, the side door panels are made out of carbon fiber. The SVJ doesn’t even have a door handle just to reduce the weight. In a nutshell, it is a mind-blowing package.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The party trick of this machine is the ALA 2.0 (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva) system which made it break the Nurburgring record when it was launched. It is an active aerodynamics system that comprises flaps in the front bumper and inside the rear spoiler which works with the help of electronic actuators to reduce drag in the straights and creates downforce in the corner for precise handling. Speaking of the design, there is no wonder why they call it the raging bull because it looks angry and raging from every angle. Furthermore, it rivals the likes of cars like the McLaren 720s, Ferrari 812 Superfast, and Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.

Features

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ comes in a single trim option as every other supercar in its category. It starts at a base price of a whopping $517,000 but would definitely cost you a fortune with all the options. You also have an Ad Personam option where you get to configure anything as you wish right from the color options to the interior customizations. You name it, they have it. Lamborghini also offers three different types of rims to choose from according to your taste. The Lamborghini also offers some exclusive packages such as visibility and light package, full interior carbon fiber package, Lamborghini shield branding package, and exterior carbon-fiber package for the bumpers and side skirts.

Fuel Economy
6.0/10

As you can see, the supercars are clearly not meant to offer a good fuel economy. It offers a dismal fuel economy and the Aventador offers the least fuel economy in its category due to the naturally aspirated engine. It offers 8 mpg in the city and 14 mpg while cruising down the highway. When combined it gives a fuel economy of 10 mpg. But it makes up for it with a large 22.5 gallons fuel tank to help it achieve a range of 180 miles in the city and 315 miles on the highway.

In comparison, all these cars offer more or less similar fuel economies. Despite being the fastest car, the 720s manages to offer the highest mileage of 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway alongside the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera. Individually, the Aston Martin offers 14 and 22 mpg, respectively in the city and on highways. The Ferrari on the other hand boasts the biggest fuel tank of 24.3 gallons, followed by the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ. However, the fuel tank figure of the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is not specified.

Interior
8.0/10

The interior of this raging bull is inspired by the fighter jet. The first thing that grabs your attention as soon as you step inside the car is the Start/ stop button which brings the glorious V12 engine into life. The steering wheel is chunky and provides a nice grip. The steering doesn’t have audio or call controls which reminds you that it is a driver-focused supercar. The center console comes with a plethora of buttons that have not been changed ever since its debut.

By looking at it, you can’t say it is old-fashioned. It still looks fresh even by today’s standards. The bucket seat offers great lateral support to hold you tight through corners. Moreover, the seat is made of carbon fiber which is so light and you can also opt for a Lamborghini logo stitching on the top which accentuates the car’s cabin. Lamborghini never goes out of track when it comes to attention to details.

All the cars in the competition can accommodate only 2 passengers. The Lamborghini offers headroom of 36.6 inches, shoulder room of 49 inches, and legroom of 44.1 inches. The headroom of this car is not practical for tall people. They may find it difficult to sit inside. As it is the only full-on track car in its class, it also offers a cargo capacity that can fit only one bag. While the other cars offer even more practicality than the SVJ. The Aston offers the highest cargo capacity of 36.3 inches which is quite a lot for a supercar. Some standout interior features include:

  • Carbon-fiber interior elements
  • Faux suede-wrapped steering wheel
  • Carbon fiber seats
  • Jet inspired Start/Stop button

How intuitive is the 2021 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ ’s infotainment system?

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ’s infotainment system is not as intuitive as its rivals. The LCD monitor in the center console feels a bit outdated now but the graphics are really good. It only offers a handful of infotainment features at your disposal. There is nothing much to talk about the infotainment system as it is a track-focused supercar. The engine noise is the music to ears in a car like this.

As standard, it comes with infotainment features such as:

  • 2 high-performance woofers on the doors
  • 2 tweeters on the dashboard
  • 4X135 watt full digital DSP-based Class D Amplifier
  • Bluetooth
  • LCD Monitor in the front
  • Real-Time Traffic Display
  • Radio with Seek/Scan
  • Clock
  • AUX Audio Input and DVD Audio

Exterior
9.9/10

The Exterior styling is one of the best things to talk about in this car. Lamborghini is fluent in making some of the sensational-looking cars and the SVJ is no exception. The Rear Active spoiler is the party trick of the exterior and it is what sets it apart from the regular Aventador. The headlights look aggressive with Y-shaped DRLs with two vents on the bonnet that make it a mean-looking thing. The Rear end looks arresting with its devilish tail lights.

Every exterior part you see is functional and made to tear through the wind. It is the longest car in its segment measuring 194.6 inches. The body is so wide even by supercar standards. It measures 82.6 inches wide and 44.7 inches which makes it a tad difficult to get inside and out of the car until you get used to it. However, the ground clearance remains unknown.

In comparison, The McLaren 720S occurs to be the lightest car in the segment weighing only 3139 lbs due to its carbon fiber monocoque II chassis which gives it an excellent power-to-weight ratio and on the other hand, the Aston Martin is the heaviest car in the segment with a weight of 3732 lbs. The McLaren happens to be the smallest car of the lot which gives it a lot more agility and a well-balanced chassis than the rest. However, The dimensions and overall proportions of the 812 superfast and the Aston Martin may seem a bit identical as both cars belong to the grand tourer segment. Some of the outstanding exterior features are mentioned below:

  • Omega shaped rear wing
  • SVJ Logo in choice of colors
  • 20-inch front and 21-inch Titanium forged wheels
  • Honeycomb design grilles front, sides, and rear
  • Colored suspension
  • Scissor doors

Safety
7.0/10

In a very fast car like this, safety also plays an important role. The Lamborghini SVJ comes with some world-class and sophisticated safety features on tap. As standard, the SVJ comes with 7 airbags, electronic stability control, auto emergency braking, skid control, lock-up clutch, and blind-spot alert. It also incorporates front and rear parking sensors which is very much essential in a car of this size. Some other remarkable safety features worth mentioning are

  • Lightweight Carbon Fiber chassis with Aluminum reinforcements
  • Front and Rear Collapsible areas
  • Side Protection System
  • Xenon High-Intensity Discharge Headlamp
  • Dusk Sensing Headlamps
  • Dynamic Electronic Stability Control
  • Torque vectoring
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring
  • LDS (Lamborghini Dynamic Steering) with a variable steering ratio

Competition
6.0/10

2021 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ vs 2021 McLaren 720s:

The McLaren 720s delivers insane performance and outperforms SVJ when it comes to engine performance, fuel efficiency, and practicality and also costs way less than the SVJ but it misses out on the drama and theatre you get behind the wheel of the SVJ. Apart from that, it is one of the greatest cars you can buy at the moment.

2021 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ vs 2021 Ferrari 812 Superfast:

The Ferrari 812 superfast is the direct rival to the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ. The Ferrari is equally competitive and the Front V12 engine in the Ferrari has a character of its own. The exhaust note is absolutely phenomenal and it is the only car in the competition that sounds as good as the SVJ. Having said that, it is unarguably one of the best-performing cars in its category. Albeit being a grand tourer it has all the traits of a full-fledged supercar and handles like one as well.

2021 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ vs Aston Martin DBS superleggera:

As a supercar, the Aston Martin is nowhere near these machines but as a grand tourer, the Aston Martin outperforms its rivals. It has a stunning design, it has the most opulent interior of the lot and it is very comfortable and doesn’t make you feel cramped as the Lamborghini. The cargo capacity Is on point and can take enough luggage for the weekend getaway. It is the only practical car in its segment. It is the perfect mile muncher for people who love grand touring. Whereas you can't do all this the SVJ.

Final Verdict
8.0/10

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ could easily be one of the greatest Lamborghini's of all time. It is such a legendary car. Everything right from the design, to the engine, to the drama and theatrics, the Lamborghini has done an incredible job. Moreover, the Lamborghini takes speed and thrill to the next level with this car. Right from the moment you get inside the car, it keeps you lively and stimulates you to drive faster.

The engine sound is a pure symphony and it can’t get any better. The Violent gear shifts are very intimidating and addictive at the same time. It also delivers biblical performance figures. If money doesn’t intercept you and if you have opportunities to buy one of these, set your GPS to the nearest Lamborghini showroom.
