Overview

In the realm of midsize passenger vans, the 2012 Kia Sedona is well known. Prices go up to MSRP $24,900, with a total of 2 trims being offered. With gorgeous, and in fact quite roomy, interiors, the Sedona offers seating for up to 7 people. There is a single engine on offer, which is a 3.5L V6 engine, attached to a 6-speed automatic transmission, that makes 271 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque. This returns a combined fuel economy of 21 MPG. Despite a curb weight of 4,374 pounds, this engine feels potent enough. Kia offers a decent amount of practical as well as cosmetic features, further increasing the prospects of the Sedona among competitors like the Toyota Sienna, the Honda Odyssey, and the Nissan Quest.

Buying Advice

The 2012 Kia Sedona makes complete sense with the $29,190 EX trim level that comes with an improved list of standard features along with multiple optional packages. In particular we recommend the Luxury package if you're looking for a sunroof, driver-seat memory and a tri-zone automatic climate control.

              Wouldn't buy again

Pros - ["Decent gas mileage", "Roomy cabin"]

Cons - ["Doors freeze in my cold climate", "Oil sending unit is a repeat repair. 3 to date"]

Doors freeze, slider doors required expensive quoted repairs to close properly leaving a very dangerous situation for a child riding in the rear seat. Air conditioning has always been marginal. Oil sending unit is another very costly repair. I'm on my 3rd one. I change my oil every 5,000 miles. Overall, this is a temperamental vehicle.
