The only good thing about this car is engine performance and most importantly, I will be getting rid of it in 24 months, 8 days and 12 hours. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR! Worst mistake I ever madeRead More

With the QX50 range, Infiniti brings an impressive SUV option with high-reliability standards. Furthermore, the compact SUV offers an ideal blend of practicality, versatility, and utility. This works great for both long-distance touring and city commuting with the SUV. The QX50 shows a stellar record with just 7 user complaints registered for the 2017 model year. The track record of the SUV speaks for itself when it comes to reliability. However, the few rare issues with the SUV range from brake defects to stalling. Even so, the Infiniti- Honda aftersales tie-up steps in with prompt services to the users. The Infiniti QX50 finds its competition in the likes of the German holy trinity - the BMW X3, the Audi Q5, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. Scroll below for a more detailed view of the car.

User Complaints and Problems for the 2017 Infiniti QX50

Mechanical Problems

  • Powertrain - One-off customer complaints report cases of gear grinding and gear slipping. These issues can progress to major transmission concerns. Fixing these issues is a time-consuming task and costly affair.
  • Brakes - Braking issues are common with the car. As per user complaints, the car does not stop or slow down on the application of brakes. This compromises the safety of the user and the vehicle and increases the chances of a crash.
  • Steering - User complaints report a few cases of wobbling and veering while driving. As per the complaints, the car tends to drift or veer off while driving on the highway. This increases the chances of a crash for the user as well as other motorists.

Electrical Problems

  • Rearview backup camera - Users report a handful of rearview backup camera failures. Rearview backup camera failure leads to a loss of rear image on the display. A lack of a rear-view image increases the chances of a crash.
  • Vehicle fires - Honda Ridgeline catching on fire is a common and a major issue for the pickup truck. Users report that the car abruptly engulfs in flames when parked. These fires usually initiate in the engine compartment. Vehicle fires result in a total loss of the vehicle and increase the chances of injury.

Structural Problems

  • Sunroof/moonroof - Explosion of the sunroof/moonroof is a common problem with the car as with any other car. Users report shattering or cracking of the sunroof/moonroof with a large sound. This can injure the occupants of the vehicle or distract the driver. Sudden sunroof/moonroof explosions increase the chances of a crash.
  • Windshield/windows - Multiple user complaints report cracking and shattering of the windshield without foreign impact. This increases the risk of injury to the occupants and compromises driver visibility. Ford claims environmental temperature variation to be the cause of the issue.
  • Doors - Few users report electronic issues that restrict the ability to lock/unlock and open the car doors. This requires replacing the door lock. Honda and Infiniti are yet to find the root cause of the issue.

Recalls

The Infiniti QX50 shows a clean record and does not register any recalls for the 2017 model year.
