... sport interior trim is nice. However the car is very small, and has had several problems since I purchased it 2 years ago. Repetitive problems with the coolant sensor and reservoir, brakes were jerking and needed repair, have already replaced the tires once and about to have to replace them again. The air conditioning also doesn’t work reliably. I’m so glad I have an extended warranty, otherwise would have alreadyRead More

It’s nice to look at I’ll give it that, however, I’m glad I leased it with the amount of problems that have accumulated over the past 2 1/2 years. The coolant sensor is ALWAYS on (they don’t know why), it goes through tires like nobody’s business (about to need newRead More

The demand for sporty luxury SUVs is the pricing, and Nissan’s luxury division Infiniti has responded with the 2017 Infiniti QX30. This car has also shocked customers with its above-average reliability, reporting only 17 complaints in its debut model year. The brand has issued 4 recalls, most of which are regarding safety problems. Prices start at $30,945 without options which means it competes against the Mercedes Benz GLA-Class, the Audi Q3, and the BMW X1. Let us find out more about the 2017 Infiniti QX30 problems in this article.

2017 Infiniti QX30 User Complaints and Problems

Mechanical problems:

  • One owner had an issue in which the vehicle shifted down into Park while driving at highway speeds. In another strange Infiniti QX30 transmission problem, a car was found to be driving backward in drive mode. The dealership reported that it was a design flaw and the complaint was taken up with Infiniti consumer affairs. The same has also been reported by another owner.

Electrical problems:

  • One owner has reported that the navigation screen goes completely black when reverse gear is engaged.
  • The door latch has also been a problem area according to one owner as it has to be manually and loved every time the person has to get out.

Exterior problems:

  • One owner had noted condensation in the headlamp and requested assistance. However, this was declined and the airbag unit itself was damaged.
  • There has been another complaint about the windshield wipers being too slow while functioning and that the water is not cleared in time.

Safety problems:

  • Most owners who have complained about this car have done so about the airbags. The steering wheel becomes slightly abnormal in behavior with a clicking sound as well as the horn becomes inoperable. However, many have also complained that the manufacturer has taken too long to repair the car.
  • One owner has raised a safety concern about the brakes and power steering failure while driving. This almost caused two collisions for the driver.

Should you buy the 2017 Infiniti QX30?

The Infiniti QX30 is a pretty unique car that is feature-loaded, made of plush materials, and offers an excellent ride. It also looks the part and is one of the best cars in the segment. Despite low predicted reliability ratings, its real-world reliability has been good and with the completely redesigned look for the 2017 model year, it is thoroughly modern as well. We would confidently buy one of these and recommend it to you.
