One of the most popular sports cars in America, the Ford Mustang almost commands a mythical status on the road. Known for its sheer power, thunderous exhaust, and adrenaline-filled sporty rides, the Mustang is a dream car for every man. The 2021 Ford Mustang also comes with amazing customization options, roomy interiors, and a muscular personality that makes it fit for a wide range of buyers. Moreover, the 2021 Ford Mustang has scored an overall crash rating of 5 stars which means it is one of the safest cars on the road.

But this dream sports car comes with its fair share of issues and has also been recalled twice. Let’s take a look at how the 2021 Mustang performs when it comes to reliability.

2021 Ford Mustang User Complaints and Problems

Engine and Mechanical Problems

  • Engine - One contact had an engine misfire that caused the car to lose power and acceleration. The car was new and the failure mileage was 700. The dealer reprogrammed the engine computer and changed the camshaft sensor but this did not eliminate the issue.

Safety Problems

  • Driver assistance features -
    • One owner reported a sudden failure of lane assist, and blind spot assist which led to a crash.
    • There was another complaint regarding the drive assist feature. The owner reported it was too unpredictable, especially when driving slower. The car tends to surge forward while releasing the brake and clutch.
  • Seat belts - One owner complained that the driver and passenger seatbelts would automatically move to rest on the neck region instead of the shoulder. This made it very inconvenient and irritating to use the seat belt and developed a safety issue.
  • Airbags - 2 recalls were initiated due to faulty airbags.

Interior Problems

  • Rearview mirror - There was one complaint saying the rear-view mirror tends to vibrate at speeds above 50 MPH.

Electrical Problems

  • Warning lights - The brake fluid light failed to notify low levels of brake fluid according to one owner. The dealer was unable to fix the issue. The failure mileage was around 6000.

Should you buy the 2021 Ford Mustang?

The 2021 Ford Mustang is one of the most exciting, powerful, and safest cars in its segment. It has a loyal fanbase and a strong legacy and the 2021 Mustang is a worthy heir. Although the car comes with its own share of problems, there are many many more satisfied customers than ones who have had bad experiences. However, there are similarly priced rivals like the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger that score over the Mustang on certain aspects and a thorough comparison would be needed to find the ideal option.
