... through life wondering if my car is going to start or not! I don't like car shopping, but I may end up with no other choice. Based on my experience, I unfortunately would not recommend this vehicle, which is sad because before the mysterious battery issue began I was really enjoying this car.Read More

One thing that American manufacturers have been known for is the constant problems and issues with their cars and that includes Ford too. However, things have changed over the years and carmakers have been able to work on their reliability and quality which drastically cut down the number of issues, complaints, and recalls. The 2020 Ford Fusion Hybrid has reported zero complaints or recalls on NHTSA which is why the Ford Fusion has managed to hold itself high up against its completion like the 2020 Honda Accord Hybrid, the 2020 Toyota Camry Hybrid, and the 2020 Kia Optima Hybrid.

The 2020 Fusion hybrid reliability rating of 80/100 by J.D. Power also makes the case pretty strong for the Fusion. But regardless, there have been a few user complaints that were noticed and registered on other secondary forums, and let's go through them. Check out the Youtube video by "HOWSTUFFINMYCARWORKS" wherein they list out all the commonly known Fusion problems and issues which shall help you make an informed decision before making the purchase.

User complaints and problems

Electrical Problems

  • Reverse camera – The backup camera at times does not disengage after sifting the gear from reverse to the first gear. This leaves a reverse view on the display even driving the car forward.

Mechanical Problems

  • Engine – It was noticed that a few Fusion had oil leaks near the head gasket that disturbed the compression which can cause knocking in the long run if not fixed.

Safety Problems

  • Airbag – A complaint was raised stating that the airbags failed to deploy during the event of a crash. This led to a fatal situation for the driver who suffered a broken neck and back injury.

Exterior Problems

  • Tires - Customers reported that the tires would lose pressure on their own. This would make the Fusion stay unstable making it difficult to maneuver ultimately increasing the risk of a crash.

Recalls

The 2020 Ford Fusion Hybrid has no official recalls so far.

Should you buy the 2020 Ford Fusion Hybrid?

It is evident that the 2020 Ford Fusion Hybrid is a very reliable car as it hasn’t been recalled. The Fusion would make a great family sedan and it is as reliable as the Toyotas and the Hondas today. The competition in this segment is tough with major players from Honda, Toyota, and Kia performing equally well as Ford. The figures in terms of the speed and gas mileage might be higher than the competitors but as far as safety is concerned, the 2020 Ford Fusion has managed to outdo its contenders. Even though the Accord is much more powerful, it faces a software issue and a constant power loss for which the car was recalled while the Camry suffered coolant leaks that constantly overheated its engine. Kia Optima on the other hand like the Ford Fusion wasn’t recalled but the Fusion offers a much more spacious and feature-rich cabin.
