Dodge’s Charger lineup has evolved over the years from boxy sedans with heavy engines to quality cars with solid performance. The 2013 Dodge Charger is a result of that evolution which features a V8 with a world-class eight-speed automatic and some of the best infotainment systems in its class. The Charger somehow manages to deliver a decent mileage and also shines in its handling abilities. Not only in the engine but the Charger also manages to deliver in the interior department. The vehicle offers a best-in-class infotainment system and provides ample legroom on both rows.

With its amazing specs, the vehicle also has a list of red flags that one may want to look at before considering buying the 2013 Dodge Charger. With 9 recalls, high ownership cost, and poor reliability ratings the Charger has many problems of its own. So here we have listed some problems with the 2013 Dodge Charger that you may want to take a look at.

Engine and Mechanical Complaints

  • Engine - The owner complained that while driving around 75mph, a whistling noise coming from the engine was noticed on multiple occasions. The car was taken to the dealership and was examined but no issues were found. Eventually, the problem was not solved.
  • Power Train - The owner stated that when the shifter is engaged from park to drive while parked, the car starts to make a clicking and thumping sound. The same issue persists when shifted from reverse to drive.

Safety Complaints

  • Air Bags - The owner had sent the car to the dealership when notified about the recall. After the repair, the AirBag light illuminated and the vehicle was returned to the same dealership. It was informed that the failure was due to the Airbags sensor underneath the passenger's front seat.

Interiors

  • Seat Belts - The driver seat belt of a 2013 Dodge Charger failed to latch. The owner informed us that an ASME-certified mechanic could not fix it and emphasized the safety issues as well.

Exterior

  • Exterior Lighting - The owner of a 2013 Dodge Charger had water built up on the headlights while driving. The owner tried to clean the lens and was told by the dealership to leave the high beams on for thirty minutes to clear the condensation but it didn't work. Eventually, the headlight was replaced but the issue still persisted.

Should you buy the 2013 Dodge Charger?

The 2013 Dodge Charger might be one of the best sedans in terms of performance but the car has many setbacks that can't go unnoticed. For starters, the reliability is just poor and the high ownership costs don't help its case either. In terms of interiors, the plastic cabin downgrades the driving experience and has a pretty slim rear-seat headroom. If you're looking to buy a 2013 Dodge Charger, we would suggest having a look at some other options like the 2013 Chrysler 300, the 2013 Buick LaCrosse, and the 2013 Toyota Avalon.
