2022 Chevrolet Camaro User Complaints and Problems

Engine and Mechanical Problems

  • Transmission - Few owners complained of harsh shifting of the first two gears, which was most noticeable under the light application of the throttle.
  • Engine - Few owners complained of a ticking noise from the engine during cold starts. Insufficient oil for a lifter or a bent pushrod was found to be a likely cause.

Safety Problems

  • Driver assistance features - Several complaints about features like Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control being non-functional were raised. The root cause was estimated to be an internal fault within the front-view windshield camera.

Electrical Problems

  • Head-Up Display - Several owners complained regarding an inoperative or blank Head-Up Display (HUD). The feature was unresponsive to the brightness setting variations or page controls. The company instructed the reprogramming of the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).
  • Malfunctioning USB port - Few mentioned that the USB receptacle was inoperative and had difficulty charging or transferring data using the port.
  • Reversing display - Several complaints arose regarding a blue or black display screen when engaging the reverse gear. The screen displayed a 'Service Rear Vision System' message, and the root cause was software anomalies in the Video Processing Module (VPM) or rear camera.

Miscellaneous Problems

  • Hood wrap wrinkles - Multiple owners reported the formation of wrinkles or bubbles in the hood wrap or stripes, noticeably around the outer edges of the hood air scoop.
  • Vehicle movement - Some owners reported a slight forward or rearward motion of the vehicle or a vehicle judder when starting from the 'Park' position or when using the remote vehicle start-up function. In most cases, it was accompanied by a clunk noise.

The steering wheel emblem may separate.

In certain vehicles, the front-driver airbag modules had plastic vehicle badges that were improperly manufactured. As a result, these branded emblems in the airbag cover could separate from the steering wheel in the event of an airbag deployment, and the plastic pieces could projectile through the cabin, increasing the likelihood of injury.

Dealers will fit in a new frontal driver-side airbag module at no additional cost. Owners were notified, and the recall commenced on April 14, 2021.

March 18, 2021

21V188000

Axle shaft missing retaining ring.

In certain vehicles, the axle shaft does not have a retaining ring, which is vital to prevent axle shaft separation from the car. The root cause was the installation failure of the same from the axle shaft supplier. As a result, the axle shaft could detach from the vehicle, causing a loss of propulsion and increasing the likelihood of an accident.

Dealers will freely replace the left or right axle shaft. The company notified owners of the recall campaign, which began on April 21, 2021.

December 23, 2020

20V811000

Incorrect bolts used to attach seat belts.

In certain vehicles, some bolts used for fastening the seatbelts to the car were incorrect. As a result, an improperly secured seat belt assembly may fail to restrain an occupant in the event of a crash, increasing the likelihood of injuries.

Dealers will freely replace the necessary bolts. The company notified owners of the recall campaign, which began on January 29, 2021.

Should you buy the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro?

The 2022 Chevrolet Camaro is a fantastic machine for those who want to experience a powerful engine, terrific on-track performance, and superb handling credentials in a single, well-priced package. It is a car capable of announcing your arrival before you step out of it, and the established, iconic body profile guarantees road presence. The cabin has plenty of new-age technology on board, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Wifi-Hotspot, and safety features like Forward Collision Alert, Lane Change Alert, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. One compromising aspect might be the slightly cramped rear seats that will come across as uncomfortable for adult passengers. Overall, the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro is a well-built, reliable car that can be a brilliant daily driver and set blistering lap times if needed.
