Overview

So inspired by several luxury brands, finally Cadillac alighted its first electric luxury crossover in the market with the name called Cadillac Lyriq. Making a sharp and futuristic design format, the company claims, it achieves 312 miles of range on a single charge. This silent predator not just challenges its competitors, but is also a furious SUV with a pin-drop silence. A fine and attractive cabin suits the luxury essence, but a lacking storage compartment falls at the end of its class. Taking its size into perspective, so General Motors (parent company of Cadillac) has engineered it larger than Chevrolet Bolt and sends a wagon-like profile from the rear end. The scalable battery architecture supports the Lyriq for DC fast charging as well as can also be fortified by charging through in-home connections. Including an athletic feel, it more focuses on composed, relaxing, and luxurious road manners that are often seen as lacking with its close knits.

With this launch, the manufacturer corresponds several hitters with the features offering and strives to make a reputable place in the first attempt. It competes with the Audi Q8 e-Tron, the Genesis GV60, and the Jaguar I-Pace.

Buying Advice

We think the Lyriq is a fleet of standard features in itself. The forward Collision mitigation, competitive miles of range, and DC fast charging availability. A navigation system, real voice recognition system, three front, and two rear USB C-ports, wireless charging pad, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto integration, surround-view camera system, and heated and ventilated front seats are also some of the features offered without charging extra cash over the car price. Though the AWD system with a huge leap in power and torque figures is worth buying.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

It competes with the Audi Q8 e-Tron, the Genesis GV60, and the Jaguar I-Pace.

Fuel Economy
9.0/10

With the new EV battery technology from General Motors on the Lyriq called Ulitium, this maintains a relative MPGe and range figures. With a 102 kWh battery offered standard, it estimates a driving range of up to 312 miles on a single charge. In the testing, it ran 270 miles without asking for a recharge. Cadillac sends a 19 kW onboard charger with Lyriq. It also sends a fast DC charging mechanism. Moreover, the SUV can also be recharged with home electricity. It estimates 92 MPGe in the city and 82 MPGe on the highways. With mixed driving, it begets 72 MPGe.

The Genesis GV60 is the best EV for city drivers to buy in 2023. This gives the highest MPGe of all. Also in highway or combined MPGe, it fails every other EV SUV to come even close. Cadillac estimates the highest miles of range on an EV. The Audi Q8 e-Tron sends the least miles of range on a single charge. Jaguar being the most expensive EV on our list fetches more MPGe than Audi in the city but stays behind it with 7 MPGe on the highways and 6 MPGe combined. Cadillac Lyriq MPGe is better than both Audi and Jaguar.

Interior
8.0/10

Belonging to a luxury class vehicle, this Cadillac maintains the premium ness inside its cabin. A fine-looking cabin brings versatile functionality and brings a ton of features ensuring a considerable amount of comfort to the driver as well as the passengers. Simulated leather upholstery suited inside brings an upgrade from the vehicle sending a soft touch posh finish inside. A decently large cabin easily acclimates people. Average size adults do not find any issue cruising in and out of the interior. Rear door panels crafted beautifully in good-looking materials carry controls for windows, a bottle holder, and a nice place to rest your arms. Fetching the same scenario, the front door panels additionally include controls for the seats. The seats are supportive and are super reliable on long drives. Front seats fetch heating and ventilation functions with lumbar support by default.

The dashboard looks phenomenal. It carves a very minimalist design to not confuse drivers with control. The ride end of it contains two AC vents elegantly merged into the linings. It covers a central 33-inch LCD screen that composes both digital instrumentation, and the infotainment system of the car. Very limited controls under the screen were added with the AC vent. The Blue tint on the bank of AC vents indicates it is an EV. The power tilt and telescopic steering column bring a heated function and do not charge extra. It gains several controls dipped into the shiny piano black finish. The center console is clean and does not consider a congested place in it. It holds wood trim covering the cup holders. A nicely fitted armrest conceals storage hidden underneath it. A crystal-shaped rotary knob brings ease to control the screen without actually touching it, and finishes off things with it.

Front row seats of Cadillac Lyriq are the most lavishing in the segment. They provide ample room to extend legs and sit freely. Even the second-row seats are compatible with rivals, as the remaining also fetches the same dimensions. When all seats are in their respective places, the Audi Q8 e-Tron brings further cargo space than Cadillac, going straight to the top of the table. Behind the front row seats, the cargo space of the Cadillac Lyriq is the hugest in comparison.

Highlights of the interior design–

  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • 8-way driver and 8-way front passenger seat with lumbar support
  • Power tilt and telescopic heated steering wheel
  • Remote keyless entry
  • 60-40 folding rear seats
  • Front and rear cupholder
  • Front and rear center armrests
  • Front map lights
  • Cargo space lights
  • Simulated leather upholstery

How intuitive is the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Infotainment System?

The infotainment system is fitted more for fashion, as it sends a complex user interface and vague controls to access it. An integrated 33-inch curved LED screen seated behind the steering column, works as digital instrumentation, while on the other end, it sends an infotainment system. The screen layout and overall appearance score full marks. It looks futuristic. With the support of Google's built-in infotainment system, it supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly. The display can also be controlled with a rotary knob mounted on the center console. It is bright and responsive. Cadillac sends a WiFi hotspot and a rich-sounding 19-speaker audio system without extra money on the Lyriq. Natural voice-activated commands support conveniently.

Extracts of the infotainment system–

  • 33-inch curved LCD touchscreen with instrumentation and infotainment
  • Google built-in user interface
  • Navigation system
  • 19-speaker AKG sound
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
  • Three front and two rear USB C-port
  • SiriusXM Radio
  • WiFi hotspot
  • Next-generation active noise cancellation
  • Natural voice recognition

Exterior
8.0/10

Outer utterances of the Lyriq beats the competition. It offers a fine and high-tech-looking exterior design that anyone would drool over. The structure begets cool-looking doors, and an aerodynamic body to pass on air through it for better efficiency. A semi-two-tone finish begets a long hood that sits very proportionately with the body format. The frunk contains a storage compact because the batteries are placed under the seats. Exciting lines over the hood meld with the slanting roofline of Lyriq. The front fascia is where the magic happens. Looking stunning and futuristic, the front design provides a cross-cross grille structure with daytime running LEDs incorporated within. It shines the Cadillac logo in a chrome tone. LED lights fixed with hollow air intakes derives the vibe of a car featured in the science fiction movies of Christopher Nolan. The multifunctional LED lights push the car ahead of the competition. Parking sensors toured on the front spoiler are barely visible. The side format assures an uncomplicated design, but things get effective when eyes go on integrated door handles that mixes into doors, like the Land Rover vehicles. Standard 20-inch wheels are offered with thick cladding to save body paint in uneven road situations. Tires of dimension P265/50R20, but on a charge, wheels can be enlarged to 22-inches. Relatively the whole body system, the rear end does feel underrated. The elongated tail shelters a larger cargo space. Rear LED lights remind us of the surviving species of the Avatar characters. Cadillac logo, rear parking camera, and no exhaust tips cause the vehicle to be electric.

Genesis is the most compact EV SUV. Being a dominant EV, the Cadillac Lyriq brings the longest wheelbase, and body structure. The Audi Q8 e-Tron is the heaviest. Jaguar I-Pace is longer than Genesis but falls behind both Cadillac and Audi. Though it brings a larger wheelbase than the latter.

A glimpse of the exterior aesthetics of Lyriq–

  • Six-spoke 20-inch wheels with a diamond-cut finish
  • All-season self-sealing low-profile tires
  • Fixed glass roof with power shade
  • Illuminating grille
  • Clearcoat paint
  • Integrated door handles
  • Power windows with fixed third-row window
  • Rain-sensing variable windshield wiper
  • Heated outside rearview mirrors
  • Advanced choreography headlamps

Safety

Cadillac confronts a vast list of standard driver-assistive and safety features. The adaptive cruise control maintains a driver-set distance between the Cadillac and the car in front. Super Cruise is a hands-free version of the adaptive cruise control that Cadillac will add to the Lyriq via an over-the-air update at the end of 2022. The blind spot intervention automatically steers the vehicle back into its lane when a vehicle is in its blind spot. For tight parking situations, a surround-view camera system gives you a top-down view of the Lyriq and its surroundings. Rear-seat reminder alerts you to check the rear seat before exiting the vehicle.

Salient features of the safety system on Lyriq-

  • Standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
  • Standard adaptive cruise control
  • Standard supercruise
  • Dual front side-mounted airbags
  • Front and rear head airbags
  • Airbag occupancy sensor
  • Stability control
  • ABS and driveline traction control
  • Rear door child safety locks

Competition

2023 Cadillac Lyriq vs. 2023 Audi Q8 e-Tron

Cadillac is affordable and offers extra estimated miles of range. Audi with additional bucks procures more power. Both empower a good-looking interior design, but the dashboard layout feels more sophisticated on Cadillac Lyriq. Audi provides a bigger kWh fast charger that charges the vehicle up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. Cadillac shows its way to go more futuristic in the future, while the Audi looks like a normal car fitted with electric motors.

2023 Cadillac Lyriq vs. 2023 Genesis GV60

Both are taking their debut in 2023, but Genesis takes the charge to deliver a luxury EV with less money. It fetches big MPGe numbers on city, highway, and combined basis. Off course, the GV60 is less powered, but not to forget the warranty coverage plan for 60,000 miles or five years. Cadillac promises the same thing for 50,000 miles or up to 4 years. Both have exceptionally good designs, but Genesis sends more value-for-money packages with GV60.

2023 Cadillac Lyriq vs. 2023 Jaguar I-Pace

Jaguar just like a jaguar is faster and more fascinating. It only offers a single trim that begets an AWD architecture, meanwhile, the Cadillac only suggests an RWD on standard terms. Lyriq promises more MPGe figures as well as an upscaled mile of range. One neat feature on the Jaguar shows the location of the charging station, as well as their availability cost, and estimated charging time. This thing is absent in the Lyriq. A complimentary maintenance plan is only limited to the first visit on Lyriq, while Jaguar has offered it for 5 years.

Final Verdict

Yes, you should consider it when making a plan to buy an EV. As an early applicant, it counts several standard features that often lack in other vehicles of the same breed. A curved 33-inch LCD screen for infotainment and instrumentation, a premium 19-speaker AKG sound system, comfortable heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, competitive estimated range, tech-loaded front grille, and a comprehensive list of standard driver-assistive and safety features can be a selling point. Audi is expensive but offers electrical components cover for 8 years. Genesis GV60 is the best option if the budget is low. Jaguar offers more power and enthusiastic acceleration.
