The RAM ProMaster, as the name suggests, is a full-size van that can be used for a wide variety of jobs. Available in three configurations, the 2500 fits right in the middle of the pack with a balance of price and capability. The Cargo Van configuration offers a good amount of room for storage, which is ideal for most delivery vans. Also, the payload rating is quite commendable for a van in this segment. RAM also made sure to offer a good infotainment system with adequate features. However, the towing and driving capabilities of the van are not on par with some of the other vans in the same price range. The ProMaster is actually quite a mediocre van among its rivals, but it does have its merits.
2022 RAM ProMaster 2500 Cargo Van User Complaints and Problems
The 2022 ProMaster has 11 complaints on the NHTSA database along with 1 recall.
Engine and Mechanical Problems
Engine - There is only one complaint regarding the engine and it states that the vent valve throws a fault code for the block crankcase breather valve.
Brakes - One owner states that the electronic parking brake automatically applies whenever the vehicle is in gear or when the van is driven up or down on slopes. They also mention that it affects the ability of the driver to control the vehicle when it is driving up or down on hilly terrain. The issue was taken to the dealer but they were unable to replicate the error.
Safety Problems
Air bags - The owner mentions that the service airbag warning light illuminates on the dashboard every 15-20 minutes while the vehicle is being driven.
Forward collision warning - This issue is the most prevalent in the 2022 RAM ProMaster. Quite a few users have complained that while using the adaptive cruise control and traffic sign assist, the vehicle erroneously picks up random signs on the highway and inadvertently sets the speeds to a much lower figure than it actually should be. Whenever the vehicle is driving at a speed set by you in the adaptive cruise control, the vehicle will aggressively slow down to meet the lower speed limit and cause problems while on the highway. Since there are quite a few complaints regarding this, this is indeed the most common issue with the 2022 ProMaster.
Tires - One owner mentioned that while they were driving the van, a big chunk of the tire tread separated from the tire suddenly. There was no blowout and no accident had occurred, but the chances of one occurring were extremely high.

Should you buy the 2022 RAM ProMaster 2500 Cargo Van?
The RAM ProMaster might not be the best van in its segment, but it certainly has a lesser amount of problems than some others in the same segment. Not so long ago, RAM had a questionable reputation for reliability, but nowadays, quality control has been improved significantly. The issues with the ProMaster generally lie in the adaptive cruise control and traffic sign assist, which could be easily fixed with a software update. However, it hasn’t been done yet. Other than that, the van does not seem to have any major problems. Nonetheless, you should still look elsewhere for a better deal at the same price bracket.
