2019 RAM 1500 Crew Cab User Complaints and Problems

Mechanical problems:

1. There have been multiple owners have reported that while driving, the shift knob begins flashing and indicates that the gear has to be shifted to Park. This is the most common under RAM 1500 transmission problems.
2. Many owners have reported issues with the fuel pump. It fails to function despite vehicles not being old enough to have issues with it.
3. Multiple owners have reported issues with the power steering failing. Since this happens intermittently, the owners cannot predict when exactly power assist will be missing here it is very hard to drive a truck of this size without power steering. Other issues of the steering include the column rattling, and even tie rods separating.
4. One of the common engine issues is that the timing cover starts leaking even when the car is new.
5. The starter motor in several cars has gone out and owners have been unable to start the car. It is not uncommon to have Dodge RAM 1500 starting problems according to owners. Multiple owners have also faced issues regarding the engine stalling while driving as well. In fact, this problem with engine stalling is one of the most common issues associated with the car. Exterior problems:

1. Many owners have had the rear window frame cracking. This is due to two reasons, one is chassis flex and the other is an issue with the HVAC system and the rear defroster.
2. Windshield wipers are also known to be a problem area with several wipers being out of sync, not working, or producing loud noises.

Safety problems:

1. There have been a lot of complaints about the airbags not functioning properly. This includes not just problems with the deployment but also water seepage affecting the operation of the airbags. Owners have been receiving airbag warning lights in many cases.
2. The seatbelts of this car are also known problem areas with multiple issues relating to the retractor. Sometimes it holds the occupant too tight and is not able to release. In other cases, it does not buckle properly.

Should you buy the 2019 RAM 1500 Crew Cab?

The RAM 1500 is a great truck due to its nice set of engines, quick transmissions, cavernous cabin, and luxurious interiors. Although its reliability has not been great, the manufacturer has followed up the problems with a large number of recalls that have addressed many issues. Yet, many of the failures are quite catastrophic and hence we would not recommend this truck to you. The reality is, if you look at Dodge RAM 1500 reliability by year, it has not improved by much despite being around for a long while. We feel the Ford F-150 makes for a better pick in the segment.
