The Nissan Titan allowed the Japanese carmaker to triumph over the skepticism of pickup truck buyers about Nissan’s ability to deliver upon its debut. Despite the lack of significant updates over the 8th year in a row, the Titan remains a trustworthy, capable, and reliable truck. The 2011 Nissan Titan has seen only 24 complaints and zero recalls as compared to the previous model’s 41 complaints and three recalls. The 2010 Titan was recalled three times due to a faulty brake pedal pivot pin and lower control link assembly faults. However, the current model hasn't faced any such issues yet according to the complaints from the owners. Other areas of the truck have received a few complaints each, indicating solid overall reliability of the vehicle. The Nissan Titan is rivaled by the Toyota Tundra, the Chevrolet Silverado, the RAM 1500, and the Ford F-150.
Nissan Titan Crew Cab user complaints and problems
Engine problems
- Smoke from engine: A few owners complained about smoke emitting from under the hood. In some instances, the presence of engine oil outside the engine caused the emission of smoke while in a single case the exact reason couldn’t be determined.
- Cracked exhaust manifold: The exhaust manifold of some 2011 Nissan Titan trucks cracked. Due to the cracks, the vehicles vibrated heavily upon starting up and the cracks were detected upon further inspection.
- Transmission cooler line split: The transmission cooler line of some 2011 Titan trucks split unexpectedly. As a result, the transmission fluid spilled under the vehicles and resulted in transmission failures.
Miscellaneous problems
- Power window failure: One owner complained about a power window failure with his truck. Due to the failure, the power windows rolled down on their own when the vehicle was parked.
- Air Conditioning system malfunction: The air conditioning system in a couple of 2011 Nissan Titan failed to work randomly. While operating the controls to defrost, the system failed to blow hot air out of the air vents, making driving in colder weather tough.
- Transmission shifter issue: The transmission shifter in one Titan truck would get stuck randomly. The owner had to hit it with something to free it from the park position to be able to drive the truck.

Should you buy a used Nissan Titan Crew Cab?
The Nissan Titan purely relies on its old-school charm and the mighty V8, that is offered as standard, to hold its ground amidst the newer and better competitors. It does offer surprisingly good driving dynamics for a truck along with a spacious cabin. Moreover, its reliability aspect is still one of the best out there whereas some of its newer and updated rivals struggle in this area. If you’re looking for a rather simple and easy-to-maintain truck and have a penchant for V8 engines, a used Titan pickup would make a sensible buy but you can consider some other rivals such as the Toyota Tundra.
