The 2021 Nissan Murano is a plush little crossover SUV. The funky styling and the comfy cabin make the Murano a very attractive proposition. Powered by a 3.5 liter, V6 unit, the Murano makes a healthy 260 horses and is offered with an optional all-wheel drive configuration as well. So, even if it is largely meant to be driven on urban roads, you can still take it through rough trails.

For 2021, the Murano comes more equipped than ever. It gets a fresh new kit of safety equipment. The Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 optional package consists of features like automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and many others. Now, while the Murano makes up for a very good package on paper, many of you might be wondering whether it is reliable enough in the real world. Does it have any grave issues or problems? Well, we’re here just to answer that. In this review, we discuss the problems of the 2021 Nissan Murano to help you decide whether you should be buying it.

2021 Nissan Murano User Complaints and Problems

Exterior Problems

  • Visibility - The complainant stated that after entering the vehicle, the rear windshield suddenly shattered. They further clarified that during the failure, no object had struck the windshield to cause it to shatter. The cause of failure wasn’t determined.

Electrical Problems

  • Electrical system - An owner has reported that the electrical system of the car fails altogether. The car stalls and the instrument cluster goes all blank and the warning lights turn on randomly.
  • Vehicle speed control - An owner has reported a malfunction with the cruise control feature. The owner states that the RESUME/+ lever of the cruise control system is anomalous. While normally, pressing the lever should increase the speed of the car by 10 MPH but that doesn’t happen instead, the speed keeps on increasing up to 80 MPH until the driver manually steps on the brakes.
  • Forward collision avoidance - An owner has reported that the forward collision avoidance system stopped suddenly as it was climbing up a ramp. The owner states that the vehicle slammed its brakes about halfway up the ramp as if it was going to collide but there was nothing in front of the vehicle and this simply was a malfunction of the forward collision avoidance system.
