2023 Mini Cooper

The 2023 Mini Convertible actually has a total of three models - Mini Cooper, Mini Cooper S and the John Cooper Works (JCW). However, the Cooper S and JCW are equipped with different engines from the Mini Cooper and hence they are considered separate models rather than trims of the same model. The mini Cooper Convertible comes with 17-inch alloy wheels and LED headlamps and DRLs. It has a 1.5L twin-turbocharged inline-3 engine and is priced at $33,800 in the US market. The 8-way manually adjustable seats come with leatherette upholstery to provide maximum comfort while the Dynamic Cruise Control attempts to offer better control for the driver.

The Signature Upholstery Package is a great addition and we recommend that you acquire it for extra comfort and style but only according to your affordability. Release Date

The 2023 Mini Cooper Convertible went into production back in March 2022 and the official release in the US market is Winter 2022.

The fuel economy section is one of the sections that make Mini Cooper considerable in the competitive market. The EPA-certified mileage is exceptional and you can easily opt for the Cooper Convertible only based on its mileage. In the city streets, it offers a significant figure of 27 MPG and on the highways, the stats are even more impressive with a figure of 37 MPG. This results in a great combined mileage of 31 MPG making the Mini Convertible an unmatched option. The fuel capacity, on the other hand, is quite low for a convertible and results in a poor range from the vehicle. The 11.6-gallon tank is probably the smallest in the market and it needs improvement to offer a better range in the face of tough competition. 

The Mini Cooper has the best mileage in the competition in both city and highway while the mileage offered by the Mazda is close enough. Unfortunately, both these models have smaller fuel tanks which results in them having low range on highways and cities. The Ford has lower mileage but larger fuel capacity which means it is able to provide the almost same range as the Mini and the Mazda. On the other hand, the Chevy Camaro has lower combined mileage but the largest fuel tank which results in the highest range among the rivals. 

The interior segment of the Mini Convertible is quite attractive as it is equipped with a lot of quirks and some fashionable features. The revised interior trim from the previous year has already installed some quality aspects and the new design on the steering wheel looks appealing. The multifunctional sports steering comes with leather wrapping similar to the seats. The checkered pattern looks great and the seats are comfortable enough as well. The space inside the cabin is commendable and the 6-way manually adjustable driver and front seats are better than you might expect. The comfort and support for both rows are appreciable and the 50/50 foldable rear seats make way for bigger space. The trunk capacity is very limited but you do not really bother about the cargo for a convertible especially when you have a power-folding soft top with a sliding feature. 

The Mini Cooper is a four-seater Convertible similar to the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro but the Mazda comes with standard 2 seats. The headroom in the front and rear seats are the best in the Cooper but all the other rivals have better space for shoulder and legs. The trunk capacity is the lowest in the Mazda Miata with only 4.6 cu.-ft of the area while the stats of the Mini Cooper is slightly better with 5.2 cu.-ft of space. The Ford Mustang has the largest trunk capacity of 11.4 cu.-ft which is considerable for a convertible.

Infotainment System

The infotainment is not extraordinary but it comes with all the necessary features. The Mini Cooper has an 8.8" touchscreen with connected media and it comes with a user-friendly infotainment system. The 6-speaker audio system is appreciable and it comes with standard features like AM/FM tuners as well as HD radio and SiriusXM satellite radio. The multifunctional digital instrument display houses a lot of important functions like Bluetooth connectivity for telephone and audio streaming. The most important part is that Apple Carplay has been added as a standard this year. The Mini Cooper Convertible is designed to stand out from the crowd and every aspect in its exterior section acquires a lot of attention. There were already some upgrades in the front grille and bumpers in the last year and we are satisfied with them. The stylish 17-inch and optional 18-inch alloy wheels look quite tempting and the latest lip spoiler makes the car look more aggressive. The LED headlights with bad weather lights along with the LED Union Jack taillights increase the attractiveness of the convertible. The functional side air vent is a noticeable aspect but we cannot really explain the non-functional hood scoop. The Mini Cooper already has a great road presence but if you are thirsty for more, the Silver/White/Black Bonnet Stripes might be just for you. 

The Mini Cooper has the smallest length and width among the competitors while they are the largest in the Ford Mustang. The Mazda has the lowest figure in height and the Cooper has the best figure. The Ford Mustang has the highest ground clearance in the competition while the Mini and the Chevy have the lowest figures. The Camaro however, has the largest wheelbase and its larger dimensions explain its highest curb weight. The Mazda has the smallest wheelbase and it also has the lightest body among its rivals. However, the Mini is unmatched when it comes to exterior design and style.

The 2023 Mini Cooper Convertible has not been tested by the NHTSA authorities but the model from last year has acceptable reviews from IIHS-HLDI. The front crash prevention is great but there are no actual ratings to justify that claim. However, there are several standard features in the convertible that ensure proper reliability. The Active Driving Assistant with Forward Collision Warning is meant to avoid mishaps on the road while the Lane Departure Warning assists you to stay alert while driving. The Dynamic Cruise Control with braking function is an excellent feature and the Electronic Brakeforce Distribution allows better braking performance while cruising through traffic. Other simple facilities like the tire-pressure monitoring system as well as the stability and traction control are great additions to the safety system.

2023 Mini Cooper Convertible vs. 2023 Ford Mustang Convertible

The 2023 Ford Mustang Convertible comes with a larger 2.3L inline 4-cylinder engine with the rear-wheel drivetrain. The Ford offers much better engine performance in terms of power output, maximum torque, and acceleration. Even the top speed is higher than the Mini. The riding experience is definitely better and the Mustang has better control as well. The EPA-certified mileage, however, is significantly low in both city and highway but it has a larger fuel tank. As a result, the Ford provides as good a range as the Mini Cooper. The interior is not as attractive but it has a larger trunk capacity. On the exterior, the Ford Mustang does not offer too much style but it is practical nonetheless. With competitive pricing, the Ford Convertible is a great alternative to the Mini. 

2023 Mini Cooper Convertible vs. 2023 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

The 2023 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible is equipped with a slightly larger Inline-4 engine and has a similar transmission. The RWD offers better power and torque and it certainly has much better 0 to 60 MPH acceleration. The Chevy convertible has a higher top speed and an impressive quarter-mile drag. The braking efficiency is as incredible as the ride and handling section. The mileage is the only setback for the Camaro but it has a large enough fuel tank which offers an even better range than the Mini convertible. The cabin is satisfactorily spacious and it has a slight advantage in the trunk capacity as well. The overall design and the standard safety and comfort features make the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible a much better choice than the Mini Cooper. 

2023 Mini Cooper Convertible vs. 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata Convertible

The 2.0L naturally aspirated engine of the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata Convertible has a slight advantage when generating power and torque. It has better acceleration and top speed compared to the Mini Convertible. The riding is good and the handling is impressive with excellent braking performance. The Mazda MX-5 has impressive mileage which is almost as good as the Mini Cooper but the small fuel tank offers a lower range. The cabin is less spacious and the trunk capacity is rather limited. The style and design offer enough road presence but they are no match for the Mini Cooper. Considering the safety system and the standard features the MX-5 Miata is a good alternative to the Mini Convertible. 

The 2023 Mini Cooper Convertible has several areas that scream for attention but the vehicle overall is not too bad to go for. The engine is definitely underpowered and the torque and acceleration are significantly lower than any of the rivals in the current market. The riding and handling are not satisfactory while the braking system can opt for a few upgrades. The fuel economy is comparatively better but again the Mini Convertible suffers from a low fuel capacity. The interior aspects are commendable and there are a lot of standard features that offer several advantages and significant comfort for the passengers. The exterior is as stylish as the interior and even if you are in a crowded city, people will still notice your car. The safety aspects are brilliant and the overall stability, as well as reliability of the convertible, are appreciable. You will not regret going for the Mini Cooper but we sincerely recommend that you check the alternatives to make sure that you can get the best available option.
