Overview

The 2013 Lincoln Navigator remains unchanged as compared to the previous model year. The current model year belongs to the generation that was last redesigned in 2007. Despite being competitive, the flagship SUV from the brand needs reimagination. The 2013 Lincoln Navigator price starts at $57,875 and a destination charge of $995 is levied. Similarly, the 2013 Navigator L (extended wheelbase version) costs $60,040, excluding the destination fee.

Featuring a single-trim lineup of the Navigator, the 2013 Lincoln Navigator MSRP can be an expense of $57,875-$60,775 this season. Having said that, it simply translates to the fact that the range-leader 2013 Lincoln Navigator 4X4 will cost you $2,900 more than the base 2013 Lincoln Navigator 4X2 for enhanced specs and assets.

We Recommend

The Lincoln Navigator 2013 is available in a single, fully-loaded trim configuration. However, you can choose between the 4X2 and 4X4 drivetrains.

Under the hood, a 5.4-liter V-8 engine with 310 horsepower motivates the Navigator. With a towing capacity of up to 9,000 pounds and a maximum cargo space of 103.3 cu.-ft, the Navigator is practical. The 2013 Navigator interior is decent but an update is welcome. With zero recalls and just seven complaints, the 2013 Lincoln Navigator problems are insignificant. Lincoln’s full-size SUV is more efficient than the Lexus LX 570, offers better range than the Cadillac Escalade and is less expensive than the Land Rover Range Rover.

2013 Lincoln Navigator for sale

The 2013 Lincoln Navigator 4X2 can be financed for as low as 3.9% APR for a term of 60 months with $1,027/month and $5,887 as down payment. The same model can also be leased for a term of 36 months with $827/month and 10% amount due at signing. The actual APR depends on the credit score and tenure of the scheme.

For budget-oriented buyers, the used 2013 Lincoln Navigator can be availed of with a base price of $8,500. Going for older model years like the 2012 Lincoln Navigator could be a matter of $9,795 and Lincoln Navigator 2011 can cost as much as $5,995 along with a listing of 2,231 in total.

Buying Advice

Since there is not a lot of difference between the two trim levels in the Lincoln Navigator, we would recommend going for the base trim as it comes with pretty much everything you want in an SUV. It has 18-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors, powered liftgate, rearview camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, and so on that make it a truly well-equipped SUV.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The new Navigator still furnishes a strong 3.5L twin-turbo V6 pumping out 380 horsepower and producing enough to tow as much as 9,000lbs. The Lincoln Navigator still holds its high name with spacious interiors and a long list of features. It does hesitate to change from its predecessor but still keeps up with other candidates in the segment.

Standard-Duty Trailer Tow Package with a frame-mounted trailer hitch receiver and a monochrome appearance package is offered by Lincoln as add-ons. While the Navigator maintenance cost comes in at around $7,894 along with repairs costing $4,345 over the period of five years. The depreciation in Lincoln Navigator price can go as high as $33,250 within the same time.

Features
8.0/10

The Lincoln Navigator provides seating for seven passengers in three rows. It can also provide seating for eight people if equipped with bench seats in the second row. It is a very well-loaded car and comes with a Backup Camera, Universal Garage Door Opener, Power Retractable Running Boards, Power Door Locks, Rain Sensing Wipers, Wireless cell phone hookup, and an Adjustable Steering Wheel.

The 2014 Lincoln navigator comes in bed length, the standard, and the Longer 'L' variant, both of them offered in two drivetrain options, the 2WD and the 4WD trims of the Navigator. The common Lincoln Navigator specs include 18-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors, a powered liftgate, and dual-zone automatic climate control making the Navigator a truly well-equipped SUV.

Fuel Economy
4.0/10

Although one cannot expect too much in terms of fuel efficiency when it comes to a large engine like a 5.4L V8, the Lincoln Navigator gas mileage is definitely on par with what one would expect from the segment. It returns almost class-leading numbers at 14 MPG in the city, 20 MPG on the highway, and 16 MPG combined. Add a 20-gallon fuel tank, and this car returns the best range one can hope for.

One can see that the Lincoln offers the best fuel efficiency figures as well as the overall range in the category. The Lexus returns the worst figures in this category with differences as large as 3mpg. On top of that, the Navigator fuel capacity also beats the competition with 3.4 liters over the Lexus and thereby leads the range with 141.8 miles.

Interior
8.0/10

The Lincoln Navigator interiors offer furniture which has a good overall fit and finishes. The SUV comes loaded with every high-end feature that one can hope for like heated and ventilated front seats and power-retractable running boards. The steering wheel comes wrapped in leather and has control buttons furnished over it, while the cabin is loaded with ambient lighting. There is plenty of space inside, while the long-wheelbase version creates up to 103.3 cubic feet of cargo space.

The Range Rover has a seating capacity only for five passengers, while all the other cars in this category offer seating for seven or eight passengers. This results in better cargo capacity for the Range Rover, but it is a bit down on the practicality that is being sacrificed to facilitate the same. One can see that all rivals are equally spacious for passengers inside, but the Lincoln is especially so. The infotainment system gets voice command and other modern features that one finds in many other Ford cars, and includes Rear Seat Audio Controls, Navigation System, and Wireless Cell Phone Hookup.  Some standout interior features include:

  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • Heated Front Seats
  • Adjustable steering wheel column
  • Optional Heated steering wheel
  • Ambient interior lighting
  • Steering Wheel Controls

Exterior
6.0/10

The exterior design of the Lincoln Navigator exudes a square and boxy appearance with the front characterized by a wide grille running down to the bumper. The sides are held by 18-inch wheels and carry over the same wide windows aiding in great visibility. The ground clearance offered is supreme ensuring nonproblematic all-terrain driving. The rear is decorated with big taillights right under a wide and tall rear window and sports chrome tips all across.

The Lincoln is a very large car and hence is extremely heavy as well. At 6,000 lbs, it is exactly on par with the Lexus LX 570, which weighs about the same but is much bigger in terms of dimensions. The length is where no other competitor comes close with deficits as large as 11.4 inches. In terms of ground clearance, all the cars in the segment stand 9 inches above the ground, which is definitely enough for everyone. Some standout exterior features include:

  • Blacked-out exterior trim
  • Chrome exterior trim
  • Front air dams
  • Hood Protector
  • Alloy Wheel Locks
  • Turn Signal In Mirrors

Safety
8.0/10

One of the areas where the age of the Lincoln definitely starts to show is in terms of safety ratings. One can observe that newer cars have scored much better in this aspect. However, it is not to say the scores are bad. It has scored four out of five stars in the NHTSA crash tests, while the IIHS rates it as ‘Good’ is a reassuring fact. However, most of the cars in its category have moved onto five stars overall. Some standout safety features include:

  • Brake Assist
  • Electronic Stability Control
  • Child Safety Locks
  • Integrated Turn Signal Mirrors
  • Adjustable Pedals
  • Front Tow Hooks
  • Traction Control
  • Fully Equipped Airbags

Final Verdict

The 2013 Lincoln Navigator is a very capable SUV that also offers an excellent luxury preposition. It has an excellent powertrain, the best fuel efficiency of its category, and the best interior space but fails to provide the kind of technology that is now filtered into all of its competitors. We expect the replacement of the current generation soon and hence it is not exactly advisable to buy one in 2013.
