ProsConsWhat's New

Fresh design language, feels more SUV than a Crossover.

Doesn't get features like Ventilated seats even in the top-trim.

No updates for the 2025 Honda CR-V, it's a carryover from last year.

A reliable and peppy turbocharged engine, combined with a good suspension setup.

The base price is quite higher than the market.

Incredibly comfortable on long drives.

Overview

The 2024 Honda CR-V starts at a base MSRP of $30,100 for the ICE versions, while the Hybrid units will cost you at least $34,650 before markups.

Initially, when Honda launched the CR-V, we all felt it was quite overpriced in contrast to the competition. That’s because most of its rivals start under $30,000 and offer better specs and features.

So, let’s understand how much sense the 2025 Honda CR-V makes.

Buying Advice

The EX trim has been the bestseller for the earlier model years of the Honda CR-V, and there are a good number of reasons behind it. It has most of the features that you need except for some fancy stuff.

If you check out the EX-L model which is about $3,000 costlier than the EX, it gets a better sound system, a power tailgate, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

A decade back, you could’ve lived with an SUV without such and such features. And the features available in the EX trim, make up for the features you miss out on the EX-L. Plus, the Honda CR-V is not made to be a luxury feature-rich SUV, hence it doesn’t make sense to spend extra money just on a few features.

The LX trim also makes sense if you’re on a very tight budget, but we would suggest you check out other rivals in a similar price range. As the Honda CR-V is a bit costlier even in the level of base trims, you’ll probably get a second or third-base spec model around the $30,100 price tag.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The Honda CR-V has been the bestselling midsize SUV over the years and it still holds on to it’s crown even if it is costlier than most of it’s competitors!

Honda introduced the all new 6th generation CR-V back in 2022 as a 2023 model year. Since then neither the 2024 model year, nor the 2025 one received a single update other than price hikes. And we somewhat agree to Honda’s strategy in this case.

The 2025 CR-V needs no change as it was already a car that did it all. In terms of exterior, it looks fresh and the boxy design gives it a timeless and brand-new vibe overall.

Inside, the cockpit is simple at it’s best! The seats are very comfortable, even on long runs it will not tire you! The ride quality is plush but also confident. The suspensions soak in the undulations but also turn exactly when you want it to.

So overall it’s a great package as a no-nonsense machine. However, it is true that even after being the costliest product in the market, the CR-V misses out on a ton of features that the competitors offer even in the middle trims.

Engine and Performance

The non-hybrid 2025 Honda CR-Vs are powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine making 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque.

It is mated to a CVT transmission and I have to say that it does a great job inside the city. The responsiveness is perfect, and if the whole world was a city, I would have zero complaints. But it’s not, is it?

So, driving it on the highway becomes a bit tricky. Quick overtakes become planned overtakes, you have to prepare yourself to overtake another car and in the meantime, tolerate the irritating engine noise! So it becomes a bit of a hectic experience on the road.

Nevertheless, if you’re a calm driver, then you’ll never have an issue with it.

The handling of regular Hondas has improved over the years and the CR-V is not an exception either. The 2025 CR-V is one of the few planted SUVs we can name in this segment alongside the likes of the Mazda CX-5.

Plus, you can option it to AWD configuration at an additional cost of $1,500. The AWD setup takes the confidence to the next level.

Alongside all of that, you have active safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Emergency Braking, Traffic Jam Assist, Auto High Beams and Lane Keep assist. These make the experience a lot easier, especially on the highway.

Interior

The first thing you notice as you get inside the 2025 Honda CR-V is that the design is copy pasted from other models like the Accord, HR-V, and Civic. We know that there’s a design philosophy that every brand follows but this is almost the same as its siblings.

Nevertheless, if you forget that, the interior is quite simple yet effective. You have Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display on the dash, powered front seats with a memory function for the driver seat, and many more features that are now standard in this segment.

However, the gauge cluster is half analog and half digital, while almost all its competitors are going for a large dual-screen setup. So that’s a bit of a letdown if you’re into advanced interiors.

The 9-inch infotainment screen supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and you have a wireless charging pad as well.

Now, in terms of comfort, the 2025 Honda CR-V has very nice seating and these are great for long journeys. We did approximately 180 miles with it on a single drive, and we were perfectly fine after the journey. No fatigue, nothing!

Also, you have powered front seats, and nicely they’ve added the memory function to the driver’s seat. The 2025 Honda CR-V has heated front seats and steering wheel, and up above you have a decently sized moonroof.

The rear seats are comfortable too, and they have more than enough headroom and legroom. Thigh support is also great adding to more comfort.

Here we have a bit of complaints. Most of its rivals are offering practical features like ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree camera setup, but the 2025 CR-V offers none of that even in the topmost trim. Fun fact, it’s costlier than most of its competitors while offering less amount of features.

Apart from that, the 2024 Honda CR-V is one of the most spacious SUVs, if not the most spacious one. The cargo area is massive and so is the total space with the rear seats folded down.

Exterior

The 2025 Honda CR-V looks simple. It doesn’t have any sort of overdone design like the previous generation, and it doesn’t even try to look apart from the crowd.

A simple boxy design that says it’s an SUV and it can take you to places.

In front, the 2025 CR-V has this big grille accompanied by LED headlights up above and vents housed in the bumper down below.

However, it doesn’t get any sort of fog lamps or housing for that, unlike some of its rivals like the Sportage.

Come to the side and you’ll be greeted with a lengthy side profile. The top-end EX-L model gets a set of 18-inch alloy wheels and so does the EX. However, if you get the base LX trim then you’ll have 17-inch steelies with hubcaps. Up above, the 2025 CR-V has heated side mirrors, and yes they have blind-spot monitoring as well.

At the back, well I see a lot of Volvo in the 2025 Honda CR-V’s rear profile! The tail lamps are all LED but the design is similar to the XC90’s rear end. Plus, Honda has gone for a cleaner look, which Volvo also follows, hence it looks quite inspired by the Scandinavian manufacturer.

Other than that, there’s not a lot to discuss, as the design is very simple. However, no exhaust tips in here, making it more of a “Just another family SUV.”

Final Verdict

Technically, if you are willing to buy a CR-V, you get one, there are no second thoughts. It’s a proven product and Honda has only bettered it with the recent updates. However, there are better products than CR-V if you crave something more than just an SUV.

If you are into better performance and handling then the 2025 Mazda CX-5 makes more sense. If you need the most amount of features then we have the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson. But as an overall package, as a no-nonsense SUV, there’s probably no other choice than a 2025 Honda CR-V.

2024 CRV Hybrid review

Pros - ["The space inside", "The new design", "User friendly radio"]

Cons - ["When you don't put the SUV in park, it can move and you won't hear it.", "The leather inside needs to be constantly maintained", "The gas mileage doesn't seem as good as I had hoped"]

I was really happy to see the new CRV model. I never cared for the recent models. The drive is nice, but I am disappointed in always having to clean the interior on. daily basis. Its also too quiet if you forget to put it in park so it's easy to roll and not hear anything
