... warranty. There is a felt skid plate for this 4-wheel drive truck. Why felt? Of course, the felt has torn and is hanging down. I took it to the dealer and was told it is not covered under the warranty because it can tear from driving the vehicle. We bought the vehicle to drive. The 2019 Ford F-150 Regular Cab falls into the 13th generation of the pickup truck. Yet, its performance continues to be exciting, with the vehicle managing to ace, both, commercial and practical requirements. It comes with an impressive set of safety features and belonging to a dependable American brand, the F-150’s reliability remains unquestioned. Though it has 183 complaints and 5 recalls in the current year, its sales volume amply justifies its performance. However, it has been plagued with problems in its powertrain and engine compartment. The 2019 Ford F-150 price starts at $28,155 and competes with the likes of the Nissan Titan Single Cab, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab, and the GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab.

2019 Ford F-150 Regular Cab User Complaints and Problems

Mechanical Complaints

  • Problems with the transmission unit: The Ford F-150 transmission problems are most commonly noted at highway speeds. Buyers have reported the vehicle to drop gears, and consequently, lose speed, which results in rough performance. Additionally, some complainants have also recorded the hesitation of the transmission unit to shift between gears, especially when moving from the 2nd gear and above.
  • Shuddering of the vehicle: In more than a handful of cases, buyers of the 2019 Ford F-150 Regular Cab have reported the vehicle vibrating excessively at speeds over 60MPH. While there has been no specific cause for the problem, the above-mentioned issues with the transmission unit can be a possible cause.
  • Stalling of the vehicle: The 2019 Ford F-150 engine problems deal with unexpected stalling of the vehicle. In several cases, buyers have reported the engine stalling inadvertently, causing the truck to come to a halt.
  • Vehicle Speed Control: In a handful of cases, complainants have reported the vehicle’s hesitation while accelerating. Even with the pedal floored, the truck vibrates excessively and fails to pick up speed as expected.

Structural Complaints

  • Shattering of windows: In almost five distinct cases, buyers of the 2019 F-150 Regular Cab have reported the back window shattering without any impact or incidence. While no injuries have been reported yet, the sudden outward/inward explosion can affect passengers and other vehicles on the road.
  • Other structural deficiencies: Some buyers have also reported variegated structural concerns. While most of these complaints relate to the unlatching of the trunk and doors, unexpectedly, a couple of complainants have also noted the windshield cracking, rather easily.

Safety Complaints

  • Malfunctioning forward-collision avoidance system: The FCA functionality has reportedly faltered for several buyers. Complainants have reported the inability of the system to detect a possible threat of a crash and activate the emergency braking system. Due to the malfunction, the driver and occupants of both vehicles involved in the crash have been injured.
  • Non-deployment of airbags: Another known safety complaint of the 2019 Ford F-150 Regular Cab deals with the unintended functioning of the airbags. Buyers have reported the airbags not deploying in the event of a crash, which has caused injuries to the occupants.

Should you buy the 2019 Ford F-150 Regular Cab?

The 2019 Ford F-150 Regular Cab is a considerable improvement over its predecessors. It records a lower number of complaints and only a few recalls compared to the yesteryear models. So, it proves to be a dependable option. However, we cannot say with certainty that the problems of the past models might not plague the current iteration of the truck. Consequently, while we do feel that the compact pickup truck is a potent choice, CarHP suggests buyers perform their due diligence when making a buying decision. Alternatively, we also recommend buyers look out for other options from brands like GMCand Chevrolet.
