... notice, nothing. The only way I knew it was off was I de-accelerated and by pumping the gas frantically, NOTHING HAPPENED! Luckily, by the Grace of God, I was not too committed to the passing and was able to slid in behind the 18 wheeler and coast to the right hand side of the road where I said a number of prayers. Then called my dealer. We went round and round where he felt I had a sensor that prevented me from getting too closeRead More

The 2016 Ford Expedition is one of the top-ranked cars in the Large SUV category. The spacious third row and the large towing capability with amazing reliability offered in a value-for-money package make it a completely sensible car for every medium-sized family for their weekend getaways. 2016 Ford Expedition also introduced the SYNC-3 touch screen infotainment system.

However, this Goliath SUV has its drawbacks. The major ones are, being huge, it is very difficult to park. The design looks very dated due to no refreshment in the design language. There are a few more issues that we have elaborated on in the sections below. Before you decide to get this for yourself, consider reading this article first.

Mechanical Complaints

  • Engine - Separation of the exhaust manifold from the engine and water condensation building up in the intake which makes the vehicle go into limp mode while accelerating from a complete stop. Such sudden loss of power can lead to fatal accidents.
  • Powertrain - Even when the shifter was in Park, the vehicle suddenly started going reverse. Jerky shifts and Flashing of a wrench LED on the OBD which in the owner's manual says the powertrain issue is pretty common with this car.
  • Brakes - Losing of pressure in the master cylinder making the brake pedal go to the floor is noticed in many cases causing absolute brake failure scenarios.
  • Steering - While driving fully loaded the steering seems to not work properly and drags the car to the left. Also frequent disability of the steering assist warning coming up, making the steering very hard or impossible to operate is quite a major problem with this car.

Safety Complaints

  • Airbags - Faulty airbags and disengagement of the airbags are one of the major safety issues in this car which have led to a few injuries.
  • Seat Belt: - Even when the seatbelt was not fastened, the no seat belt warning chime did not buzz which is a major safety drawback.

Exterior Problems

  • Headlights - Low beams have a frequent tendency to go off. Many drivers are not satisfied with its projector-type headlamp which they reported is not enough.

Should you buy the 2016 Ford Expedition?

While the 2016 Ford Expedition is a good alternative to Chevrolet Suburban and Dodge Durango, it has the heads up in the Engine performance section but the design, interior, and road feel to be lacking. Expedition proves to be a very much worthy purchase for a utility-oriented large-size SUV despite having drawbacks like harder to park and turn and a few unavoidable problems which come with big size. If this is something that will keep you unbothered, you definitely can get yourself and your family a 2016 Ford Expedition.
