Overview

The 2018 Fiat 124 Spider makes for an excellent contender in the subcompact convertible class. With 2 trims on offer, the 124 Spider has a base MSRP of $24,995, with prices going all the way up to an MSRP of $27,595, competing directly with the Mazda Miata MX-5, the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible, and the Mini Convertible. Only a 1.4L turbocharged inline-4 engine is offered, mated to either a standard 6-speed manual transmission or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. Together, they produce 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Accelerating from 0-60 in 6.5 seconds, the 124 Spider maintains a combined fuel economy of 30 MPG. Fiat offers the 124 Spider in 8 stunning colors, with the Mare Blue Metallic being a particular favorite of ours.

Buying Advice

With two trim levels on offer, the Fiat 124 Spider is indeed an affordable everyday sports car. However, the mid-level Lusso trim happens to be the most sensible one, given the features it adds for an additional $2600. Some remarkable features you get in the Lusso trim are leather-upholstered and heated seats, 17-inch wheels, fog lights, automatic headlights, automatic windshield wipers, a rearview camera, automatic climate control, and a few more features to enhance your comfort levels.
