The concept of moving people, especially around the suburban areas, changed when Chrysler played a pivotal role to shape the US car market by introducing the first-ever minivan in the country. Since the beginning, minivans have provided an elaborate and comfortable space for moving people along with giving a car-like driving experience from behind the wheels. The first minivans, the Plymouth Voyager and the Dodge Caravan defined a new way of transport for the suburban population and this feat has been passed onto the successive vehicles of the same category since 1983. Minivans gained popularity to a certain extent where they inspired other automakers to make crossovers that are almost identical to minivans in terms of practicality and exterior appeal. However, with the sharp rise in the demand for crossovers, the minivans have taken the backseat but even the handful number of minivans that are on sale today, promises a comfortable people moving experience and can appeal to those living in proper urban areas as well.
Practically being the inventor of minivans, Chrysler had the best option in the market soon to be heavily rivaled by Japanese and Korean brands such as Honda, Toyota, and Kia. The Chrysler Pacifica, the nameplate being carried forward from the crossover of similar nomenclature, was launched back not so long ago in 2017. It is yet to receive a proper generation upgrade but already received a proper facelift for the most recent 2021 model year where it received a complete design overhaul along with an all-new interior design, a new infotainment system, and plenty of safety techs as standard that were available as an option before. Under the hood, the van remained the same, powered by the common 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that puts out 287 horsepower along with 282 lb-ft of torque. The 2022 Pacifica remains majorly unchanged and carries a starting price of $37,095. In the segment, the minivan competes against the Kia Carnival, the Honda Odyssey, and the Toyota Sienna.
