The 2022 Chrysler Voyager is available only in the LX trim, which was its top-tier trim for the 2021 MY. It is speculated around $30,815. It’s mostly a carry-forward design with the addition of some new features. It comes with 17-inch aluminum wheels, automatic halogen daytime running headlamps, cloth upholstery, Stow ‘n Go seats, 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 4-way manually adjustable passenger’s seat, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, 7.0-inch touchscreen display, keyless entry, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, 6-speaker audio system, power sliding door and liftgate, and some standard safety and driver-assist features.

Its rivals readily offer more driver-assist features than the Voyager. To get over this, you can opt for the Safety and Premium Group packages. It includes features like a blind-spot monitoring system, rear park assist, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, etc. It will also get you a 10.1-inch infotainment system, a navigation system, etc. 

Which Trim should you buy?

Well, since there is only one trim on offer, you don’t have any choice for the 2022 MY as you did in 2021. It is available only in LX trim and only in the FWD drivetrain. Moreover, it is not available to the general public and can only be purchased as a fleet. The available features like 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 4-way manually adjustable passenger’s seat, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control make it a decent option in the segment.

Release Date

We do not have any solid information on when the new Voyager is coming to the market, but looking at the past trends, the minivan is expected to reach the market by the fall of 2021.

Mechanically identical to its inspiration, the Pacifica, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager features a 3.6L naturally aspirated V6 engine. It is capable of producing 287 hp @ 6,400 RPM and has a peak torque of 262 lb-ft @ 4,000 RPM. This engine is coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The Voyager lacks a much-needed AWD drivetrain which means that the power is delivered only to the front wheels as standard.

Although, the Voyager is not the quickest but is the most powerful minivan in the segment. The numbers are pretty decent for a large vehicle like the Voyager, and the engine also seems adequately powered. The minivan manages to reach the 60 mph mark in 7.2 seconds, and it takes 15.1 seconds to complete a quarter-mile. Nonetheless, these minivans are meant to haul passengers and not to win drag races.

For a vehicle of such huge proportions, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager has impressive handling capabilities. It has smooth acceleration and is a fun-to-drive minivan. The steering is well-weighted and offers decent feedback. However, the cabin experience is unexpectedly harsh. The strut-type front suspension and trailing arm-type rear suspension are stiff and do not absorb the bumps well. It is best suited for highway cruising and for smooth road drives. 

Only the 2022 Kia Carnival manages to beat the Chrysler Voyager in terms of 0-60 mph and quarter-mile timings. It manages to go from 0 to 60 in just 7 seconds and 14.8 seconds to complete a quarter-mile. The Toyota Sienna is the only minivan that provides a hybrid engine as standard. However, in doing so, it is also the most expensive minivan in the segment. While others offer automatic gearboxes, the Sienna comes with a CVT transmission as standard. While it does improve fuel economy, expect a lot of ambient road noise. 

Considering that the Voyager has a big bulky nature and a powerful V6 engine, it manages to deliver some decent fuel economy. The 2022 Chrysler Voyager is expected to be on the same grounds as the 2021 MY. It is rated 19 mpg in the cities and 28 mpg on the highways. This gives it a combined fuel economy of 22 mpg. When compared to its rivals, only the Toyota Sienna manages to beat it as it comes with a hybrid motor. With a 19-gallon tank, the vehicle will deliver over 532 miles of range on the highway.

Apart from good mileage, the Chrysler Voyager also delivers a decent driving range. However, thanks to the hybrid powertrain, the Sienna manages to deliver over 648 miles on the highway. Honda Odyssey offers similar fuel economy to that of the Voyager, but its slightly larger fuel tank helps it deliver more range. Kia Carnival, on the other hand, returns a similar economy to the Voyager in the city, but its highway MPG figure is slightly low.

When it comes to the interior, the 2022 Voyager takes a more practical approach rather than going for comfort and luxury. Its rivals offer better interiors, especially the 2022 Kia Carnival, which has one of the best interiors in the segment. However, the Voyager will be better equipped in 2022 MY as it offers more in-cabin features than it did before. The dashboard is unusually designed yet modern and practical in layout. It offers decent exterior visibility to the driver on all sides. The seats are of Stow ‘n Go type. Well, that means that not only are the seats foldable but they also allow storage capacity underneath. This is offered for both rear rows of seats in the 2022 Voyager. 

The driver’s seat is 12-way power-adjustable, while the passenger’s seat is 4-way manually adjustable. The seats are cloth upholstered, and you won’t have an option for leather upholstery. However, heated front seats and heated steering wheels are both available features. As far as space is concerned, all three rows have ample space. The third row is comparatively less spacious in terms of headroom and legroom, but the feeling of being cramped is missing, which is a good thing. The exterior of the Chrysler Voyager Minivan is going to be the same for 2022 MY. The Voyager may look like a typical minivan, but it is an attractive one. It is decently styled from wherever you look. The front look of the profile comprises a small grille with a big Chrysler winged badge in the middle. The grille complements the fluidic-shaped automatic halogen daytime running headlamps. It is followed by a simplistically designed front bumper below and above is a sloping hood.

Viewing the 2022 Voyager from the sides will give you a typical soccer-mom minivan feeling. It sits on 17-inch aluminum wheels with a ground clearance of 5.1 inches. It also features body-colored heated power adjusting, manual-folding side-view mirrors, and power sliding doors. Subtle body lines and chrome outlines on the windows give it more personality. It offers high-tech features and a spacious and luxurious seating arrangement. The power figures and fuel economy of both the minivans are very close. As per the price point, the 2022 Carnival is slightly more expensive but choosing any one of the two will satisfy your minivan needs.

2022 Chrysler Voyager Minivan vs 2022 Toyota Sienna

The 2022 Toyota Sienna is the only minivan in the segment with a standard hybrid powertrain. Unlike the Voyager, it is available in AWD configuration too. The Sienna has a beautiful interior design and layout which is filled with comfort features. It offers the best fuel economy in its class, thanks to its hybrid nature. The Sienna proves to be the most economical option, but it demands a hefty price tag, which is also the most expensive in the segment.

Honda has a reputation for providing the most refined and practical cars regardless of the segment. The Odyssey maintains that reputation by being highly practical, economical, and a value-for-money asset. It is probably the most closely matched rival of the 2022 Chrysler Voyager. It is on par in many aspects like the power figure, fuel economy, interior space, etc. The difference between the two is the number of standard features and the ride quality. The 2022 Honda Odyssey is better than the Voyager in both, hence making it the more desirable minivan.

The 2021 Chrysler Voyager performed decently in its segment, but it lacked comfort features and driver-assist features. But for 2022 MY, it sure sounds promising as Chrysler has made a genuine effort in improving the Voyager. It is available only in one trim but a lot of features can be shuffled according to your preference.
