Falling into a class of luxury sedans, the VolkswagenCC resonates with luxury and comfort. It is ostentatiously built with high-quality materials and reeks of intuitiveness with its ergonomic build. While it is a fashionable proposition, the CC upholds the German standards of practicality and functionalism. It is amply equipped in each trim level and finds itself feeding into the requirements of family-oriented buyers with its impressive safety and reliability quotients. In the current iteration, the vehicle records 145 complaints and 5 recalls, which do not seem to be a concerning set of statistics. Most of its problems are related to its airbag system and to deal with the recurring issue, Volkswagen has proactively managed to deliver standardized solutions. A 2013 Volkswagen CC for sale is available at $31,645 and in its segment, it falls in a similar ballpark as the Acura TL, the Audi A4, and the Hyundai Genesis.

2013 Volkswagen CC User Complaints and Problems

Mechanical Complaints

  • Stalling of the engine: The 2013 Volkswagen CC reliability issues also stem from its engine compartment. In several cases, buyers have reported the engine losing its power inadvertently and stalling, which makes it difficult to control the vehicle. While a definitive cause for the problem is not yet known, a coolant leak due to a broken water pump and the failure of the rod bearings have been attributed as the underlying causes in some instances.
  • Unavailability of replacement parts: In the 2013 Volkswagen CC problems list, some buyers have also reported a possible engine stall due to the failure of the fuel pump control module. While a recall is available to deal with the issue, most users have recorded the unavailability of the parts of the recall with the dealerships, which has resulted in a delayed remedy.
  • Other mechanical concerns: In a handful of cases, buyers have also reported issues with the sedan’s steering and braking system. While the steering wheel is reported to lose its power functionality, users have recorded the brakes requiring extra effort to be brought to a halt. In some other cases, a couple of complainants have also reported the Continental Conti Pro tires making abnormal ticking sounds, without any cause or symptom.

Safety System Complaints

  • Failure of clock spring: The Volkswagen CC issues list largely compromises of problems with its airbag system. In the current iteration, several buyers have reported the airbag light illuminating randomly and the steering controls and horn ceasing operation inadvertently, due to a failure of the clock spring. It makes for almost 70% of the registered complaints on NHTSA and considering its widespread impact, Volkswagen has introduced a recall, referenced by NHTSA ID 15V483000, to deal with the issue.
