... said I’ve had two ongoing issues that Subaru refuses to fix. I’ve owned the car for two months and have 2,800 miles on it. I’ve now dealt with two different dealerships both confirming that these are definitely issues that should be fixed however Subaru is claiming these issues as normal. The front passenger seat rattles continuously. It’s loud and constant. The dealerships have told me the seat frame needsRead More

Known for bagging multiple awards year after year, the Subaru is primarily known for its safety and comfort, and impressive handling. With a starting market price of $27,645, the Subaru WRX  is also known for its great resale value. While compared to its primary competitors like the Kia Stinger with a beginning market price of $36,290, the WRX is quite an economic deal, followed by the Nissan Altima, with a price range starting from $24,450. Despite Subaru’s fairly pricey tag, the WRX sedan is known for hitting a sales unit of 27,141 in 2021. The Hyundai Sonata has a record of selling 83,434 units that come with a starting price tag of $24,150, which is fairly less than the WRX.

The popularity of the WRX would have skyrocketed in the respective year, had there been no issues and complaints about the problematic engine that runs faulty when the engine compartment gets heavily heated up, compelling the faulty head gasket to stop oil leakage from the gas compartment. Apart from that, some users have found that the car’s oxygen sensors fail to work properly affecting the mileage and overall WRX’s mileage factor too. According to the NHTSA website, users have raised 1 recall and 3 complaints about Subaru WRX’s respective year’s model.

Mechanical Problems

  • Issue with the steering wheel

Problematic steering wheel of Subaru WRX has been majorly noticed in most of the sedans. User complaint notifies that the steering tends to steer right irrespective of the car speed, as the car steering control system fails to identify the driver's intention while turning the wheels. Such instances may minimize the drivers' control over steering triggering road accidents. Henceforth such issues should be addressed and rectified.

Structural Problems

  • Faulty windshield

Faulty windshields are a major problem in most Subaru WRX sedans leading to crack marks on the driver-side windshield. The impact of the crack might expand causing further damage to the entire windshield in the long run. The crack marks developed on the windshield might expand causing inconvenience while driving by increasing crashing chances if ignored.

Issues with inoperative backup lights and rearview image

Problematic backup lights and faulty rearview camera might reduce the vehicle’s visibility leading to lack of drivers awareness triggering crashing risk

The dealers are going to inspect the issue and get it rectified by replacing the backup switch in the affected WRX Subaru vehicles, for completely free. The recall number for the particular issue is WRE-22

Should you Consider buying a 2021 Subaru WRX?

As a popular Japanese brand, the 2021 Subaru WRX has reached popularity due to its comfortable and reliable handling features. It’s one of the main reasons that separated Subaru from the rest of its competitors.

However, safety concerns like loss of driver’s control over the steering that often seems to steer in the wrong direction did challenge the market reputation of Subaru WRX sedans for some time along with the structural fault in the car expanding till the driver’s side by triggering crashing risk is something that has been taken care of by the Subaru manufacturers in the respective year by replacing those for free of cost. This will be increasing the resale value of the sedans in the upcoming years.

If someone is looking ahead to buy an old sedan, the issue-free Subaru WRX sedan is always going to be their top priority according to our opinion.
