Overview

The 2021 Porsche 911 Targa is a compact luxury convertible offered in 3 trims, starting off at a base MSRP of $119,300. For that price, it mainly competes with the Jaguar F-Type Convertible, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible, and the BMW 840i Convertible. Between 3 trims, the Porsche 911 Targa offers two powertrains. The Targa 4 engine is a 3.0L Twin turbocharged boxer 6 capable of making 379 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque. If more power is required, the same engine on the Targa 4S makes 443 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. The Porsche 911 Targa reaches 60 mph from zero in 4.2 seconds on its base engine, which gets pumped up to 3.6 seconds with the power boost. The powertrain manages a combined fuel economy of 20 MPG. While we're on the topic of choices, among 18 exterior colors, the Racing Yellow striking color is our favorite.

Buying Advice

Quick shift and effortless acceleration make it more fun to drive. The never-ending options give a high degree of customization. The interior is decorated with top-quality material. And arrangements inside the cabin make things easy and comfortable. All of this comes with an almost impossible price tag for common folks. So if you are loaded, the latest 2021 Porsche 911 Targa will make every bit of sense. But if you are not, then the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible will not force you to go into debt. It is not only $50K+ cheaper but also 1.2 seconds faster than the Targa. However, it has a seating capacity of 2 as opposed to 4 in the 911 Targa.
