More About Pontiac

Pontiac was always more than just an automotive manufacturer, it was a lifestyle. The brand was one of the five divisions of General Motors and it showed its class despite the commanding presence from the likes of Cadillac, Buick, and the now-discontinued Oldsmobile. Pontiac got its name from the Odawa chief and the first car being produced at the city of Pontiac, Michigan was also another reason. The journey started in 1926 under Oakland Motors but from 1931 till its demise Pontiac was under GM.
When it comes to the Pontiac cars, it is impossible to pick one as a favorite as the American brand has delivered several incredible cars. The Pontiac Firebird and the Firebird Trans Am have been on top of the desirability list for years. Even after the shutdown of the brand, many of the models remain favorites and people look for parts and modifications on them.
The cars were sold in Mexico and Canada but the US remained its biggest market for obvious reasons. It had quite a large number of sales that went around 520,000 a year at the beginning of the twenty-first century in the US and it was almost one-fifth of that in the Canadian markets. The sales declined slowly through the years but it was the end of the first decade that showed clear signs. Around the years 2008 and 2009, it became apparent that Pontiac had run aground but the management still tried their best to stay afloat.
2010 was the final year that saw the G6 sedan being manufactured after which GM dropped the curtain on it. There have been rumors of the Firebird Trans Am returning but nothing has been officially confirmed. Although many brands reintroduce their most popular cars via a third party or all by themselves, this might not be the case for Pontiac.
The American brand that showed how a car can be a style statement, a manufacturer that proved that a car can be much bigger than just a vehicle, is not coming back. This has increased the value of the Pontiac models that still remain in the market and those who know the true value of those automobiles will surely opt for them without a second thought.
