Acura unveiled the 2024 model of the TLX sedan with a major refresh as was expected on the interior and the exterior. Apart from the cosmetic changes, there are several other enhancements on the mechanical side as well.

There will now be only 3 trims on offer now and the price prices for the current 2023 Acura TLX start at $40,050. With this refresh, it is becoming a much more prominent car in its segment and can shine much more against the Audi A4, BMW 330i, and the Infiniti Q50.

Exterior Design Changes

The 2024 TLX receives a major refresh for the 2024 model after being in its current guise since 2019. At the front, the TLX gets a frameless Diamond Pentagon grille with a redesigned mesh pattern. Since the base model is now gone, the 19-inch wheels are also now standard.

The TLX A-Spec models get a new split-spoke 19-inch wheel design with a Shark Gray finish, new large & dual round exhaust tips, and a gloss black rear spoiler. There are also 2 new paint colors on offer, Urban Gray Pearl & Liquid Carbon Metallic.

The 2024 TLX Type S on the other hand gets a new split-spoke 20-inch wheel design in Berlina Black finish as standard while the optional lightweight Y-spoke 20-inch wheels get a new Copper finish.

Powertrain Changes

On the mechanical side, all the trims except the Type S will be coming in all-wheel drive which will be available for the A-spec only. The Type S model also gets improved throttle response in Sport+ mode for an improved acceleration performance.

Other than that a Double Wishbone suspension at the front and Multi-Link suspension at the rear will be available as standard. Now the performance-based Type S will be coming with a Sports-tuned 10-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive is available as standard.

Interior Changes

In terms of the tech tweak the situation is even better. The old and boring 10.2-inch infotainment display and 7.2-inch digital cluster on the 2023 TLX are gone and now the 2024 model comes with a 12.3-inch HD Display and a new 12.3-inch Precision Cockpit Digital Instrument Cluster.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a wireless charging pad will be available as standard from this model. There's also a new 10.5-inch Head-Up Display (HUD) with user-selectable content standard on TLX Type S.

However, the display at the center still needs to be controlled with the touchpad which is a bit of a letdown. And the cherry on top is the quieter cabin all because of the enhanced noise-canceling software called Active Sound Control systems and better glasses, for all models apart from the base TLX.

Did You Know?

The word Acura is derived from the Latin word “acu” which means “done with precision” or “mechanically precise". While initially, Honda had named their luxury brand division “a-coor-uh”, but customers began to pronounce it as “ah-cure-uh,” and the company decided to go with what the customers preferred.

Trim Changes

Acura has decided to offer the Technology pack as standard, which means the base model gains features like Milano leather seating, ELS Studio Premium Audio, Iconic Drive ambient lighting, larger 19-inch wheels, key fob activated remote engine start with vehicle feedback and more.

This means, that the 2024 TLX is no longer offered in its base guise and will now be available for sale in just 3 trims, base, A-Spec, and the sporty Type S.

Has the safety improved?

The current Acura TLX gets a perfect 5-star rating from NHTSA while the IIHS has awarded it with the "Top Safety Pick+" accolade, and we expect it to be the same with the facelifted model as well.

As standard, the AcuraWatch suite of safety and driver-assistive systems gets an improved ability to recognize attributes of detected objects that enhance collision prevention performance. There's also a new front millimeter-wave radar packaged behind the Acura logo along with a new rear seatbelt reminder system.

The Blind Spot Information (BSI) function gets an increased radar field of view which enables Lane Change Alert as standard. The TLX Type S model also gets a new high-resolution surround-view camera.

Pricing and Release Date

Acura has not yet announced the release date and pricing of the 2024 Acura TLX. That said, expect it to be launched by the end of 2023 and there should only be a minor price hike over the current sticker price of TLX Technology. Expect an MSRP of $44,500 for the new 2024 model year.

So, in conclusion, Acura is moving towards making the TLX resemble the 2019 Type S Concept more, at least that’s what we can understand from this new refresh but they are far off from it as of now. However, this compact sedan has turned out to become a very stylish and powerful car and has exceeded our expectations in terms of features, functionalities, and overall aesthetics, so it is surely going to attract more attention on the road and buyers.
