The Mazda CX-90 is undoubtedly a great full-size SUV but if three rows are too much for you, Mazda has you covered. The CX-70 will be a smaller two-row compact SUV that will be identical to its elder sibling. This means the CX-70 will be sharing the same platform and powertrain options that Mazda debuted with the CX-90. While exact details about the CX-70 are yet to be disclosed, it looks like a compact blacked-out version of the CX-90.
The exterior of the CX-70 is much like the CX-90 in many ways. However, the CX-70 adapts a glossy blacked-out exterior, compared to the chrome-laden CX-90. The front grille also makes it much more sleeker and aggressive than its elder sibling. Moving on to the interior, you get a 12.3-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. There is also a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and steering controls for the infotainment system. Throughout the cabin, red leather with a black accent stripe adorns the interior which is by the way only available for the CX-70.

The CX-70, much like the CX-90 gets the same plug-in powertrain option which uses a 17.8-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery and a 68-kilowatt electric moto with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 323 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. As for the ICE options, there is a turbocharged 3.3-liter inline-six. This engine produces a power output of 280 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. Additionally, there is also a performance trim “S” which delivers around 340 hp and 369 lb-ft.

Slated to release later this year, the Mazda CX-70 prices have not been disclosed yet. However, it would be fair to assume that it will arrive cheaper than the CX-90 which starts at $40,970. You can expect the base model to have a sticker price of around $38,000.
