Launched in 2022 the Volvo C40 Recharge became quite popular in the subcompact electric luxury SUV segment. The 2024 C40 Recharge shows the promise of being equally popular if not more. The SUV is equipped with a choice of two powertrains both of which are quite perky and exciting.
While the strong powertrain gives an exciting performance, the cabin is fitted with luxury and high-tech features that will rarely leave you wanting more. However, despite its luxury cabin and potent powertrain, the competition is still stiff with the likes of the handsome Cadillac Lyric and the futuristic Genesis GV60 barking at its heels.
The 2024 Volvo C40 Recharge sees quite a few minor changes. However, there are two big changes to the electric SUV for the 2024 models, the first being the introduction of the RWD single motor powertrain as standard and the second being a new price list for the entire 2024 C40 Recharge lineup.

The Volvo C40 Recharge has three basic trims that come standard with a single electric motor supplying the power to the rear wheels. A dual electric motor comes with an AWD powertrain that also sets you back by an extra $1,750. However, unlike with the elder sibling the XC40 Recharge, the addition of a second powertrain makes a significant performance improvement.
Every Trim is expected to come with an Extended Range variant that will significantly improve the driving range. The Extended Range variant only comes with the single electric motor powertrain and RWD drivetrain. The cheapest option starts at $53,600 for the Core trims and goes up to $58,800 for the top-of-line Ultimate trim. However, more details about the Extended Range have not been revealed yet.

The C40 Recharge Core trim is the base trim of the luxury SUV and has a starting price of $53,600 which can go up to $55,350 with the dual electric motor powertrain. The C40 Recharge is a more stylish version of the Volvo XC40 Recharge SUV and comes with a host of features as standard which include ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
All this is made more exciting by the punchy powertrain that the SUV is equipped with. The Core trim also comes standard with driver assist features like adaptive power steering, Google integrated navigation, lane keep assist, and cruise control among others which are also found in the XC40 Recharge.
The Plus trim comes standard with all the features of the Core trim and with a starting price of $55,400, one would expect a little more as well. The dual motor powertrain will set you back by $57,150. Among the stuff that the Plus trim shares with the Core trim, one important common feature is the 402 horsepower dual motor powertrain.
This means that the Volvo can go from 0-60 MPH in 4.4 seconds which is slower than the Cadillac Lyric as well as the Genesis GV60. Special features for this trim include an air purifier, a 360-degree camera, and parking assist for the front, side, and rear.
The Volvo C40 Recharge Ultimate has a starting price of $58,800 which will go up to $60,550 with the addition of another electric motor. However, no extra money needs to change hands if one sticks to the standard 248 horsepower single electric motor powertrain that is good for a range of 297 miles, or 40 more than the dual motors. The Ultimate trim is the most premium trim of the C40 Recharge SUV so it comes standard with features like an air purifier, heat pump, heated steering wheel, and heated seats among others.
However, the special features of this trim include a Harman Kardon Audio system, adaptive cruise control, and a Pilots Assist feature that helps the C40 Recharge stay in its lane and follow the road at a constant speed with automatic braking and accelerating to the desired speed depending on the speed and behavior of obstacles in front. The features put the C40 Rescharge at the same level as a BMW iX.
In their latest announcement, Volvo USA released the price list of their entire lineup of cars for 2024. Extracted from that list was this list of the C40 Recharge and its prices for 2024. At an initial glance, one notices a fall in the base price of the electric luxury SUV, however, the general price has not fallen as the previous year's models were available only with dual motors and AWD which have become an optional extra and more expensive.
However, the Volvo C40 Recharge with its new pricing will still be good value for money thanks to the level of luxury and the tech it provides within the price range.
