McLaren had discontinued the 720s supercar by the end of last year, and they are on their way to unveil the upcoming successor to the same. Some recent information has circulated about how the 720s successor would appear in nature, what it might look like, and even how much it is likely to cost. As of now, it is known that the car will be revealed by April this year.
McLaren Will Reveal The 720s Successor Sooner Than You Think

By the end of last year, it was clear that the 720S’s life had been ended pretty quietly by McLaren, as the company stopped taking orders for it. However, back then we didn’t have any idea of what’s next from the British manufacturer, but now, according to reports, some of the fog has been cleared about this new car and what its position could be.

The upcoming McLaren will gain some horsepower over the 720s, and feature more aerodynamics borrowed from its much more brutal sibling, the 765LT. So you can expect a revised bumper design, side air intakes, and a larger active rear wing for better aero.

The 720s successor will have a cleaner interior trim inspired by the Artura and Elva, in comparison to what we currently see. Also, expect new paint options and newly designed alloys to come with the new car.

According to sources, the upcoming model will at least have a price hike of 10% over its replacement, which means the current base price of $310,000 will jump over the $340,000 margin.

However, if you are interested in this, then you have to wait for a while, because according to Nicolas Brown, McLaren President of the Americas, it is pretty evident that the unnamed upcoming replacement of the 720s has been sold out for the year 2024, as customers have already deposited in their respective dealerships anticipating something new to come.

The car will officially be teased by the end of February, while the full reveal is going to happen sometime in April.

McLaren recently announced a collaboration with fighter jet manufacturer Lockheed Martin, implying that some of these jet technologies, particularly in terms of aerodynamics, may be seen in the upcoming McLaren supercars. However, it is not clear whether the carmaker intends for the 720s-replacement to become the first product of this particular collaboration or not.

The McLaren 720s used to come at a base price of around $310,000, while the soft-top Spider came at a base price of $326,500. It stayed in the industry for about five years, and with the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 behind it producing 700+ horsepower, it can fly to 60 mph from a standstill in just 2.8 seconds. It competed with the likes of the Ferrari F8 Tributo, the Ferrari 812 Superfast, and the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

However, if you want a brutal experience with the same DNA as the 720s, you can still get that with the McLaren 765LT, which costs over $350,000 but will give you a completely different feeling than what has been caged in the 720s. This track-focused McLaren will do 0-60 in just 2.4 seconds, which is hypercar quick.
