When I trade it in I'll be looking for a taller car, more entertainment features, stronger air conditioning, no huge blind spot, and less road noise at high speeds.Read More

... was a recall for a software fix they tried using for the transmission pressure on a metal pulley not to brake or fail. Our VIN was not on there, but it appears to have the same failure everyone else from that recall described (the car stopped accelerating while I was driving- very dangerous and potentially life-threatening). All of our previous cars, we had toyota scion tc, chevy tahoe, masada miata, etc and they all laster well beyond 150,000Read More

The front seats would not go back far enough, and taller passengers would find their knees against the dash and foot squished up in the tight footwheel. The driving position was equally awkward. Controls were simple and straightforward, and easy to learn. The materialsRead More

The Honda Fit is a subcompact hatchback that is not only affordable for the price but also has decent features. The interior is spacious for a normal car, and cargo space is average, but the performance does lack power. So far the honda fit has received 4 recalls, 1 open investigation, and 209 complaints. Major complaints received for the car were for the electrical system regarding the fuel gauge display malfunctioning or failing to work. The rest of the complaints hovers over the engine, fuel/propulsion system, powertrain, airbags, and many more. The Honda Fit 2015 is one of the top subcompact car categories along with the Chevrolet Sonic, the Kia Rio, and the Ford Fiesta. According to the ratings the 2015 Fit is at the top, but does it stay at the helm of affairs when safety and reliability are concerned? Let's find out in detail.

2015 Honda Fit Problems and complaints

Mechanical problems

  • Engine problems: Some buyers of the 2015 Honda Fit have reported the engine making a rattling noise when starting up or when the car is accelerating. The plastic guard above the engine would not stay in place for some users due to a flaw in the design of the guard. Other problems were that their engine would not start sometimes and some users needed starter replacement without the car even reaching 100,000 miles.
  • Power train issue: User complaints were that the transmission gave out completely. For some, the transmission shaft snapped, which had to be replaced for a hefty amount. To deal with the issue, a recall was introduced, referenced by NHTSA ID 15V574000. Other complaints include the transmission system slipping gears, and shaking excessively, while some users also complained about loud noises from the transmission.
  • Fuel/Propulsion system failure: Most of the complaints were similar regarding the fuel gauge display failing and fuel injector issues, which needed replacement of the injectors.
  • Service brake failure: Users complained that while driving the car would accelerate suddenly with no warnings and the brakes would fail. Other complaints were that the car would not shift out of Park and when leaving the car with a handbrake would slip and the car would roll.

Electrical problems

  • Electrical System issue: The most common complaint about the Honda Fit relates to the electrical system regarding the fuel gauge/odometer display not working or failing to work. Other complaints were the car would not display the temperature for some users or would shut down randomly due to electrical malfunction. The recall was taken place in the electrical system department, buyers can refer to NHTSA ID 15V559000 for further information.
  • Vehicle speed control Issue: A common issue reported by the buyers of the 2015 Honda Fit relates to the vehicle accelerating without input, either when the vehicle is in motion or when it is at a stop sign.

Safety problems

  • Airbag failure and issue: During an impact or an accident, some users noticed that the airbags did not deploy or the airbag would deploy but would not inflate. Some users claimed the airbags deployed when there was no impact. Most of these users that had issues with the airbags have sustained injuries leaving only 5 or 6 users safe from injury. Two recalls have been introduced for the airbag issue, referenced by NHTSA IDs 15V697000 and 14V563000.
  • Seatbelt Issue: Few users struggled with the seatbelt not losing up when unbuckled. The seatbelt would get tighter and fail to disengage. Some other users claimed that the seatbelt would not lock up during an impact or accident.

Other problems

  • Structural problem: Users claimed that the paint of the car would sometimes peel off or the coating shrinks and tears. Other complaints were with the rear window exploding, airbag curtains deploying for an unknown reason, and the splash guard becoming loose.
