Overview
Cars like the 2016 Honda CR-Z might not be able to give you the direct benefits one might expect from its hybrid powertrain. However, its use must not be overlooked. The CR-Z uses its 1.5L Inline-4, an electric motor hybrid system, and a 15 kW lithium-ion battery to produce 130 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque. This gives the CR-Z a 0-60 of 9.2 seconds. The hybrid engine here is to support the gasoline engine to boost performance and offer slightly better fuel economy than what a single gasoline engine would be capable of. That said, the 2016 CR-Z achieves a combined fuel economy of 33 MPG. As part of the compact hatchback, the CR-Z competes with the Toyota Prius C Hybrid Hatchback. Meanwhile, non-hybrid rivals include the MINI Cooper and the Ford Fiesta. It offers 3 trims, starting off at an MSRP of $20,295.
