Overview

Hyundai decided to bring luxury cars in the form of Genesis. It did a tremendous job by offering a great value costing less than its rivals. But there was something, Genesis forgot to alight in the electric car market. Freshly announced Genesis GV60 SUV filled the spot with a newly born character. It contends with rivals with its intrinsic design format revised from the flagship G90 sedan. The ambitious crossover satisfies all the luxurious needs of shoppers looking into it. With a 77.4 kWh battery pack the company claims it can accomplish 248 miles of driving range, while the Performance model procures 235. Hooked up with a DC fast charging station, Genesis says it can be charged at 10 to 80 percent capacity in just 18 minutes. Ahead of all these electrifying features, GV60 is resolute enough to make a thrilling swiftness. Supremely cozy seats match the ambiance with a highly defined cabin design structure. A 314 horsepower Advance or 429 hp Performance trim justifies value accordingly.

It competes with Cadillac Lyriq, the Volvo XC40 Recharge, and the Audi Q8 e-Tron.

Buying Advice

If you are ready to compensate for the range to get a stunning performance, then Performance is a must-go variant. Bigger wheels, upgraded brakes, more power and torque, electronically controlled suspension dampers, a heated rear seat, and driver seat massage are some add-ons that it holds above the Advance model. If you are okay with power, then Advance shows limitless features bounded counting auto-dimming and power-folding heated mirrors, heated and ventilated front seats, lane-keeping assistance, and much more.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

This is the year of announcement for GV60 as a third contending SUV. With the launch, the company notes its first step towards an all-electric vehicle marketplace. It competes with Cadillac Lyriq, the Volvo XC40 Recharge, and the Audi Q8 e-Tron.

Engine and Performance
7.0/10

Three separate powertrains will be provided eventually. Only an AWD structure with dual motors is expected to be present at the time of launch. The basic Advance trim makes 314 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a single-speed automatic transmission, Genesis brings this AWD by default. The performance version begets a leap in power and torque output. It sets them at 429 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque respectively. With the latter version, it boosts the performance of the car making it do 0-60 in just 3.7 seconds, which is an insane number in the segment. Running at a 112 mph momentum, it shows the caliber to do a quarter-mile run in 12.2 seconds. This silent predator is super fun to drive. Steering response is as athletic as it is made for to do so. It is communicative and never lacks any feedback. A single-speed shift is barely felt. You just start the vehicle and keep on going. There is a positive punch when it accelerates. City drives are exceptional and it ensures luxury individuality. GV60 helps in securing more miles of range. On the highways, it is rapid and becomes a source to truly satiate your need for scintillating acceleration.

Audi Q8 e-Tron is the most expensive electric luxury SUV on our table. Volvo XC40 Recharge is the best luxury SUV. it is also the strongest electric SUV to buy in 2023 with less money. The New Genesis GV60 price makes it a bit more affordable than Cadillac Lyriq. XC40 Recharge is the fastest electric SUV costing least than your budget. Genesis GV60 hp is least in comparison, but its torque is worth above Audi, and Cadillac. Except for the new Cadillac, all-electric vehicles are given an AWD structure by default. With Audi, Genesis GV60 top speed atop the table. Even with the least speed given, Volvo XC40 Recharge makes fulfilling driving expressions.

2023 Genesis GV60 Ride and Handling

Genesis rewards you with a balanced and composed ride disposition. It is sharp around the corners. Super satisfying seats hold you tight when you surpass several miles on your Performance variant. Though the car does not serve summer performance tires. Some of its rivals possess on their performance-oriented SUVs. It increases the sporty feel of the car making it more athletic to drive. Its electrically tuned suspensions are too on the softer side on firmest setting. GV60 is a playful vehicle and steers with confidence wherever you point it. Limited-slip differential on Performance trim enhances traction when accelerating. Rack-pinion suspensions on front help in converting the steering wheel’s rotational motion to the linear motion needed for a vehicle to turn its wheels. It reduces gears which makes it easier for the steering wheel to turn the wheels. Genesis sends four drive modes. Comfort is the automatic mode that comes with GV60 for day-to-day driving. Eco mode helps improve energy efficiency by limiting the maximum power output of vehicle. Sport mode accentuates the high-performance characteristics of the vehicle by firming up the steering wheel, and handling features. It also improves motor response and sets the vehicle in AWD mode. Though it decreases your miles range. Custom mode allows drivers to change vehicle settings according to their whims and will. Standard 20-inch wheels with P255/45HR20 tires.

2023 Genesis GV60 Braking System

Brakes are compatible with an abundance of standard features to counter emergency circumstances. They are tactile and regular friction brakes. If you adjust the regen set to the strongest setting, you will almost never have to touch the brake pedal. Its regenerative braking helps improve battery charging percentage when you press the brake pedals. Forward collision mitigation warns you of an impending collision and applies the brakes in certain scenarios. Reverse automatic braking also applies the brakes automatically if there is an impending collision with an object behind the vehicle.

Audi Q8 e-Tron being the costliest car on table, is also the heaviest electric SUV in the comparison. Rear wheels of Genesis GV60 are tagged with the shortest brake rotors. Volvo XC40 Recharge is the least weighted electric SUV. Cadillac Lyriq seating next to the most weighted vehicle carries the largest brake rotors on any electric car on the table. Still, it could not manage to stop competitively against its competitors. With the brake calipers and one of the least weighted bodies, Genesis GV60 is assumed to stop better than Lyriq. Audi Q8 e-Tron with extensive brake calipers and the highest curb weight–an educated guess tells that it will take less distance to come to a standstill than Cadillac.

Fuel Economy
9.0/10

With a 77.4 kWh standard battery pack, Genesis GV60 gives rise to 248 miles of driving range on Advance and 235 for Performance trim. A base RWD model is rumored to join lineup later with an increased driving range. With a DC fast charging socket, Genesis claims that GV60 can be recharged 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. The performance model gave 200 miles of range when tested. Advanced trim is EP rated for 103 MPGe in city and 86 MPGe on highways. Combined MPGe turns out as 95. Performance trim is rated 97 city MPGe and 82 highway MPe.

Genesis GV60 is an electric vehicle with the highest city MPGe. Even on the highways and combined, it is a step ahead of its competitors. On the highways, Cadillac Lyriq offers more MPGe than both Volvo and Audi. It is also the vehicle with the highest electric range. Genesis GV60 range surpasses Volvo and Audi, while the two convey relative miles of range. Volvo XC40 Recharge has a better-combined MPGe than Cadillac and Audi.

Interior
8.0/10

New 2023 GV60 is truly a piece of art. The design and cabin outlooks are influenced by the flagship sedan that came out this year. High-quality elements and interior understanding push GV60 to derive an ample level of comfort. Stupendously crafted cabin formulates a nice and premium-looking design that anyone would fall for it. Despite its short-looking approach, doors open pretty largely. It uses a digital key and fingerprint scanner to unlock doors and get into the car. Normal-sized adults do not complain while surfing in and out of cabin. Taller people definitely ask for extensions. Rear door panels beautifully designed in leather and rich materials employ controls for windows, and serve more space to carry small water bottles. Revising the same exercise, front door panels stimulate seat adjustment switches in addition. Prosperous seats make no compromise with the comfort and relaxedness of driver and passengers. Front seats are heated and ventilated by default, while the upper version brings heating to the rear seats with massage for the driver.

Dashboard looks somewhere similar to the latest BMW cars. It deployed a highly qualified material with a satin chrome finish on corners. Four AC vents elegantly fixed into a metal finished bar promotes an uncluttered and honest look. A single sheet of screen containing two 12.3-inch displays for instrumentation and infotainment glares futuristic. Two-spoked steering column is something we did not like. Though it covers several buttons. A professionally lifted center armrest is not extended for two arms to rest at the same time. But covers the storage area underneath. The Center console holds two knobs. One for infotainment and the other for driving intuitions. Two cup holders, a wireless charger, and a few controls make things complete.

In terms of legroom, Cadillac Lyriq is more spacious than a few rivals. Dimensions of the GV60 are not available but are assumed to bring a better roomy cabin than Volvo XC40 Recharge. Second-row seats of Volvo are the least roomy. When no seats are disturbed, the cargo space of Genesis GV60 beats Volvo. Audi has the highest cargo space, while Lyriq sits just next to it.

Highlights of interior–

  • 10-way driver and 8-way passenger heated and ventilated front seats
  • Power tilt and telescopic steering column
  • 60-40 folding rear seats
  • Power rear windows
  • Keyless entry and ignition

  • Leather seats
  • Daynight auto-dimming rearview mirror

How intuitive is the 2023 Genesis GV60 Infotainment system?

A long and curved centre panel distributes two same-sized screens. The 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connections. Though its classmates give wireless integration for both. Screen is illuminating and offers good haptics. User interface might be a little gimmicky, but one would learn it. It can be controlled through a crystal-like rotary knob given on the center console. A 17-speaker Bang and Olufson is a nice offering as others hesitate to give it on a standard. Other buttons are within reach.

Extracts of infotainment system–

  • 12.3-inch LCD infotainment touchscreen
  • Wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connection
  • Navigation system
  • 17-speaker Bang and Olufson audio system
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Voice activation
  • 4 USB ports and 12v power outlets
  • Integrated roof antenna
  • Real-time traffic display
  • Audio streaming

Exterior
8.0/10

External appearances of Genesis GV60 are among one of the few cars that impersonate a very distinctive yet desirable design format. A nicely curvaceous language proves it to be a car of the 21st century. A bold curved hood works as a frunk as the batteries are mounted under the seats. The character lines send an above-average look to GV60. Front split headlights look like small diamond cubes shining inside the bar. Fully packed front grille mounts parking sensors. The front spoiler gets a nice spider-dung-like shape. A simple and elegant side profile is divided into a dual-tone format that is rear in the segment. Integrated door handles merge beautifully with doors. Outside rearview mirrors are power folded and heated by default. Standard 20-inch wheels get thick cladding over them to protect the paint job. They are equipped with tires of P255/45HR20. Performance trim gets bigger with 21-inch wheels. Among several exterior shades, we like White. The rear end handles a sloping roof that is added as a tail to store more cargo. Same split LED brake lights look phenomenal as the front. Genesis letters and GV60 badging, liftgate rear access and that's it.

Safety

Genesis is fully armored with a suite of standard driver assistance and safety features. Standard Head-up display projects important information in your sight line on the windshield. The optional digital key allows you to use your smartphone as a vehicle key. Automated and remote parking assist steers into a parking spot with little or no driver intervention. When a car is in the GV60's blind spot, blind-spot intervention automatically steers it back into its lane. Adaptive cruise control adjusts speed to maintain a constant distance between the vehicle and the car in front.

Salient features of safety system–

  • Standard automatic emergency braking
  • Standard lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning
  • Standard adaptive cruise control with lane-centering feature
  • Dual front side-mounted airbags
  • Front and rear head airbags
  • Airbag occupancy sensor
  • Child seat anchor
  • Rear door child safety locks
  • Stability control
  • ABS and driveline traction control

Competition

2023 Genesis GV60 vs. 2023 Cadillac Lyriq

Lyriq is feel like a car of Tony Stark with its design. While GV60 brings a blend of a sophisticated car with modern technology. Genesis is affordable and brings more MPGe, while Cadillac claims the highest on-table driving range. Though both are equally fast, Genesis brings an AWD. Cadillac brings RWD by default. Cabin on Genesis looks thoughtfully planned and attractive

2023 Genesis GV60 vs. 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge

With the least money possible, Volvo ensures the highest in segment power and thrilling driving manners. With a short body, it can not promise ample cargo space in it, as Genesis GV60 does. Genesis also prefers a huge list of standard hi-tech features that are often seen absent on Volvo. XC40 Recharge brings a cover of battery components for 8 years.

2023 Genesis GV60 vs. 2023 Audi Q8 e-Ton

Audi Q8 e-Tron is the most expensive electric car on our list and fetches better cargo space. With a longer wheelbase and larger body, it is the heaviest vehicle. Genesis being born recently has a significantly better design language and offers a bigger battery pack. Audi steps ahead of Genesis as it sends all-season tires. As things are just started with GV60, there is some add ons need to be included.

Final Verdict

Yes. we are in favor of buying this electric luxury car. An extensive list of features like 20-inch wheels, 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, 17-speaker B&O sound system, solacing seats, better miles of range than few rivals, and several standard hi-tech features are some lucrative points on GV60. Low cargo space, more price, and little underrated cabin elements are some features that should not be neglected. Want a super futuristic car? The Cadillac Lyriq is the only vehicle that sends an astonishing style in the segment. Want the most powerful electric car with least price? Volvo XC40 Recharge does so, but if you can adjust its low size. Or s[ires to bring an electric Audi? Q8 e-Tron can be a good choice.
