The Italian legend Ferrari has delivered some of the most iconic and breathtaking supercars throughout its history and while one can definitely associate the brand with a gas-guzzler, a plug-in hybrid, on the other hand, doesn't exactly scream “Ferrari”. But unlike most plug-in hybrids, the SF90 does not use the hybrid assist to boost efficiency, it instead uses it to boost performance to near maniacal levels, thus, making the SF90 the quickest Ferrari road car ever. Under the hood, the SF90 boasts a twin-turbo V8 engine and three electric motors. The hybrid powertrain generates an output of a beastly 986 horsepower. The SF90 Spider is the drop-top version of the supercar and is even more exclusive than the coupe.

But what are the problems with the 2022 Ferrari SF90 Spider? To answer that, here we take a look at some of the issues associated with the SF90 and its recalls. But since the SF90 Spider is fairly new to the market, the car has minimal recalls and user complaints, as is the case with any limited-production supercar.

Airbag impact with a child seat can increase the risk of injury to the occupant.

Ferrari is recalling certain 2021-2023 Ferrari SF90 Coupe and 2022 SF90 Spider hybrid electric vehicles. When a child seat is installed on the passenger seat (size M), the airbag deployment may impact the child seat. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Owners are advised not to use child seats in the car until it is repaired. Dealers will replace the size M passenger seat with a size XL passenger seat, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on April 30, 2023. The manufacturer's number for this recall is RC 84.

Should you buy the 2022 Ferrari SF90 Spider?

The Ferrari SF90 Spider is absolutely magnificent when it comes to design, performance, and sophistication. Thanks to it being a hybrid, it is also the quickest Ferrari road car ever. Moreover, the SF90 does not have any user complaints, given that there are very few examples, to begin with, and only one recall. To sum it up, one can't possibly go wrong with the 2022 Ferrari SF90 Spider, and if you are considering buying it, you should definitely go ahead.
